BG baseball picked 3rd in the MAC East in the Preseason Poll

Post by BGSU33 »

BG was picked to finish third in the MAC East in the 2006 MAC Preseason Poll. Miami was picked to win the East, CMU was picked to win the West. Miami has some outstanding pitching down in Oxford and is going to be tough to beat this year. Kent State also returns a lot of firepower and will be a factor in the MAC race. I wish Nolan Reimold was back for the Falcons, but if we can play our way into the MAC Tournament, you never know, a Regional berth could be on tap. GO BG!!!

MAC East:
1. Miami
2. Kent State
3. Bowling Green
4. Akron
5. Ohio
6. Buffalo

MAC West:
1. Central Michigan
2. Ball State
3. Western Michigan
4. Eastern Michigan
5. Northern Illinois
6. Toledo

MAC Tournament Champion: Miami
GO BG!!!

Just so you know, Josh Stewart got rated the 2nd best prospect in the Great Lakes Summer league, behind Ben Snyder of Ball St. Here's his writeup:
Drafted in the 43rd-round by the Devil Rays as a catcher after spending most of the 2005 college season in the outfield, Stewart returned to his customary position behind the plate this summer and impressed managers with his receiving, blocking and throwing skills. He also swung the bat, for both average and power, but made his biggest impression by stealing 21 bases, second in the league. He runs extremely well for a catcher and also is an accomplished base runner. He’s expected to assume a full-time role behind the plate as a senior at Bowling Green
