Everyone say "bye, bye" to Ohio State.

Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.

I had some mixed feelings about this game. It was sad to see a senior like Davenport go out in the first round. Part of me will always feel that someone who has achieved as much as she has, no matter what team "she" is on, is a shame. Over 2000 points in her career? You can't deny how great of an accomplishment that is. On the other hand, it is ALWAYS good to see a mid-major, especially one from the MAAC's and MEAC's of the world (I don't mean to belittle those conferences, but those are some very, very small schools competing with much bigger fish).

In the end, my love for mid-majors won out, though. Even my father, who is an OSU alum and fan, thought it was cool to see Marist pull the upset. As I said to him, I think upsets are more important in women's hoops than in any of the other major NCAA sports. There has been such a huge disparity in talent between Tennessee, Duke, UConn, LSU, etc. and everyone else that, I really think, it has turned a lot of people away from the sport altogether. I mean, really, how exciting is it to wonder which of four teams out 300-some others is going to win the championship? The success of mid-majors (and I have no problem using that term when it comes to women's hoops) is vital to the success of the sport, in my opinion.

Sorry Ohio State, but congrats on a great season, and an extra had for Jessica.

Keep it rollin' Marist! :D

They looked bad.

Did you guys see how slow they looked? I thought I was watching a game in slow motion. I really think if given the opportunity, we would've ran circles around them and probably beaten them by 30.

I watched that Ohio State myself, and I can't believe that they were able to go through the Big Ten without losing before the conference finals. That was a team that couldn't shoot from the outside, and it's hard to believe that someone in the Big Ten didn't think of the defensive scheme Marist played on Davenport. That was the only time that I have watched them play this year, and I can't believe that they looked that bad.

I hate to defend Ohios State, but take Ali or Carin off of our team and see how good we look. They've been a completely different team since Hoskins went down.

BUT, Hoskins has been down for at least a month now, and they were still able to make it through the rest of the regular season, and the Big Ten tournament without losing until the final. A good team has more than just two players that can step up at any time. And you would think that the best team in the Big Ten would have more than just two. And you would also think that they would have at least one three point threat to take a little pressure off of the post.

True, but the B11 was pretty bad this year outside of Purdue and MSU. I'm not surprised at all that a good, not great OSU team ran through it like they did. With Hoskins, they were good, but not as good as a team like MTSU who they would have played in the second round. Without Hoskins, they're just a mediocre team, but still better than the other mediocre teams in the B11

I agree. And we've had our share of injuries this year. You're Ohio State. You can't tell me they don't have backups that should step up. ;-) I won't defend them at all. :-D

this is extremly hypocritical..if OSU would have played BG and beat the piss out of BG this would have been moved to other schools and you guys would have cried and bitched and moaned for three months about it. The anti OSU police would have been out.

why dont you use some consistency. If you have an other schools forum then every topic regarding other schools as the main topic should be in that forum. If you are not going to follow your own logic then it makes you look rediculous and it hurts your credibility.

Congrats on being good in something finally. Too bad it is something that no one other than BG give a damn about. Guess that what hapens when you suck at everything else.

Maybe you can throw a gymnastics party next!!

In all fairness (at least in my time around here - the past 2 years or so,) the moderators have been fairly consistent in that if it's related to BG at all, it does not get moved to the "Other Schools" forum.

hypocritical? More like hypothetical.

OSU doesn't have the guts to play BG in women's hoops. Talk is VERY cheap....especially coming from the ones who are scared out of their minds to play the game.

tekekini - Please explain again why you come onto this board. What is your overall goal here? Why do you care what anyone from BGSU thinks about Ohio State? If you think BGSU is so irrelevant to anything, why do you spend time here?

I'm not trying to be a smartass. I really want to know, because I don't understand the rationality of it.
