WVU and RR's agent?!

I'm so innocent and pure, I had no idea coaches like Rich Rodriguez had agents. I assumed they would have a lawyer or financial adviser help with the million dollar contracts, but I didn't know coaches had their agents e-mailing U presidents telling them what to do and telling them that their client isn't happy and look the Texas A&M job might be open.

What a joke. When did this start? When diid NCAA coaches start acting like baseball players?

Does Brandon, Orr or Miller have an agent? (There's your set-up Brandon bashers, swing away).

It's definitely a soap opera...the agent making the threats, a Rodriguez loyalist claiming racism, the University investigating the shredding of files...you couldn't make half of this stuff up.

There's even a semi-BG connection at play. Whit Babcock was the runner up for the BG athletic director job that went to Greg Christopher. He subsequently left WVU for Missouri and the circumstances of his departure are mentioned in the private emails that were just released.

RF, Many (most) "big time" coaches, college or pro, have agents who work out those multi-million dollar contracts...Don't know if Brandon et al from BG have an agent, but I wouldn't be surprised...Most of these guys have to rely on someone else to do the "financial research" if you will, or they'd get taken to the cleaners. As to threatening to take a coach elsewhere, I must admit that is a new one on me...but I'm sure during negotiations for new contracts, the subject of leaving for another, more lucrative job comes up frequently, just not in a "threatening" way.

I'm pretty sure Joplin does, and given results prior to last year he must be a GREAT agent! Amstutz also has, or had, one.

My professor for my legal studies 301 class mentioned the lawsuit WVU filed against Rich Rodriguez in class today. Evidently, the issue right now is whether the case is going to be tried in federal court or state court in West Virginia. Rodriguez claims that he is a Michigan resident now, so by rule of concurrent jurisdiction between the states of Michigan and West Virginia (and the case being worth the minimum $75000 at a price of $4000000) the case must be tried in federal district court. WVU claims he hadn't moved from Morgantown yet at the time of the suit's filing, so there is exclusive state jurisdiction and the case must be tried in West Virginia state court.

Basically, if Rodriguez's motion to move the case to federal court is denied, he's screwed. He'll have to face 12 upset local jurors and a local judge glaring at him and his attorney.

Why are you citing a 2005 article re: this topic of agents? I'm guessing that Amstutz is making "a bit" more than the quoted amount now...or was that your point?

Why are you citing a 2005 article re: this topic of agents? I'm guessing that Amstutz is making "a bit" more than the quoted amount now...or was that your point?

The topic is people having agents. This article was the first one that came up verifying he had an agent. Don't give me credit for giving any thought to my posts or to having a point.
