Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.

OK...in between watching the Cavs/Celtics and WWE Smackdown, I turned on the BTN and Ohio State is playing...Houston Baptist in hoops? :roll:

I've never heard of this school.

They're in Houston, I guess, and they have an enrollment of *cough* 2,300. They have orange in their color scheme. GO HUSKIES!

I know they are in their first or second year of Division I as the are still in the reclassifying process

HBU is in it's second year of Division I. They were NAIA for quite awhile. They have a new president that is a big sports guy, and wants it's mens team to be the signature program. They were a good NAIA team, always going to the national tournament, but will not be a good DI team until they get a better coach. The current coach has been there a long time, but his teams seemed to underachieve the last couple of years they were in the Red River Athletic Conference. I have a very good coaching friend that was on the women's side, and he was VERY successful, but could't deal with Cottrel anymore and left. It was the worst decision he made. HBU is really struggling with the move to DI right now. They are a very small school, but the president is a very good fundraiser. They are planning on building a new $30 million arena down here.
