DJ Gallo from ESPN.com did an article and in it he discussed ND possibly being forced to join a conference if the PAC10 and Big10 expand. What follows is the dig.

"You can each come up with a scenario that would force our hand," he told reporters. Hmm. It's good I'm not a reporter because I'm drawing a blank. Let's see ... Aliens attack Earth and all the nations of the world band together to fight off the invasion. However, in the battle the campus of Central Michigan is destroyed. So, looking to replace CMU with a program of similar quality, the MAC invites Notre Dame to join. Did I get it? Is that one of the scenarios?
So, is this a dig at ND or a dig at the MAC?

I think it is a dig at both.
He digs Notre Dame by indicating the are at the level of a MAC team and he indicates that the MAC is nothing without Central Michigan. That is why he chose them to be blown up by aliens and making room for Notre Dame to join the MAC.

It's a dig at Notre Dame and by extension the MAC...I think CMU figured into the joke because they'e the defending MAC football champs and tha's probably about the only thing this guy knows about the MAC.
