Re: 5 Buckeyes Get 5 Games
What a joke this is. You know they won't sit out 5 games next year, probably two or three. And I loved the NCAA's reason for allowing them to play in the bowl game....they had not received adequate education about what is acceptable in regards to selling items and such. What a bunch of BS, the NCAA was more concerned about protecting their bowl.
You mean to tell me that after 3 years at OSU Pryor and Boom don't know what the rules are???

Re: 5 Buckeyes Get 5 Games
The gold pants that Pryor sold is a gift given to each Ohio State football player after beating Michigan. It's a big tradition, it's a thing of honor, and apparently Pryor has quite happy to part with it for some cash. I'm guessing every Ohio State football alum is looking down on him right now in disappointment. That seems like a lot of apathy toward a great tradition.

Time for E. Gordon Gee to stand up and be a leader of the 'great' institution he commands. Suspend them from the bowl game.

Allowed to play the bowl game?? Suspended for 5 games NEXT year?
The NCAA is a joke.
It's obvious that the Football program at tOSU is in charge all decisions made by the NCAA.
We may as well just start paying these guys to play and get it over with.](/img/ayziggyzoomba/58/58/54314911ff35ed959956620e68458f73.gif)

Well, technically he sold his pants and ring and got cash to pay for the tatoo(s), technicallyKeyWestParrot wrote:FYI....Pryor tweets lies too...he tweeted that he paid for all his tattoos.

Dear NCAA,
Way to protect the Sugar Bowl. Way to protect the national championship game with Cam. All of these suspensions will be 2-3 games by next season, assuming they haven't gone pro. What a joke.

Yeah, that is a pretty big slap in the face from Pryor. Even though my love of Ohio State has diminished slightly over the years, I am still one who understands the meaning and significance of certain tOSU traditions - ESPECIALLY the ones on which that young Ohio State fans are brought up. Shows a definitive lack of pride and respect. Sad.MarkL wrote:The gold pants that Pryor sold is a gift given to each Ohio State football player after beating Michigan. Another point that someone made via another site, is that while he may have gotten what he wanted for the short-term...what about the long-term effects of this? The awards and other items he (and the others) gave up for tattoos would have been great to show off at their homes, and to pass down through generations. Unfortunate.

Re: 5 Buckeyes Get 5 Games
There are several things that are just absurd here.
1. Why in the world would they not be suspended for the bowl. Thats just ridiculous.
2. Would there be any better timing for this to come down for OSU. Right before Xmas so no one is on campus, and it will be forgotten about, wont get knocked out of a bowl game, some of those players might leave, first few games next year against Toledo, someone else, and first year coaches at Colorado and Miami. I might respect Tressell too much but this timing seems fishy.
3. If it is downgraded to less then the 4 games that AJ Green got then thats laughable.

Most interesting is that, at least so far, NO ONE has mentioned WHO these kids sold this stuff to...if it's a booster, there's even MORE dirt under the rug.
And to think we (AZZ) got into "trouble" for giving Mark Stevens a few hot dogs a couple of years ago.(remember his dad saying he had to pay for the dogs to get the issue "cleared") I agree with the post about Gee suspending these guys from the bowl game. To me the whole thing shows how little respect they have for special awards, rings etc. And Pryor sold his SPORTSMANSHIP Award? What a Joke!!!!

Re: 5 Buckeyes Get 5 Games
I was thinking about it and I think there are really 3 different levels here.
1. Selling equipment. "Herron must repay $1,150 for selling his football jersey, pants and shoes" He certainly owns some of that but the pants? Do they get the pants? Isn't that akin to stealing from the University? I cant take my desk chair at work and sell it. I think this is the biggest fear because if you allow for these things then why couldn't OSU just by 5 times as many gloves for their players with the expectation that they can just sell them. That would basically be like paying them in a round about way.
2. Selling things that you own that were awarded from the University. "Pryor must repay $2,500 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring, Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award and his 2008 gold pants, a trinket given to players who are a part of a team which beats rival Michigan." Here I am looking at the award from the Buckeyes, the gold pants. If they can sell awards from the buckeyes then in a sense it could be like the bucks are paying them. They could create random awards just so players could sell them.
3. Selling things that were awarded not from the University. "Adams must repay $1,000 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring." Here I think its a little less because its an award. The school still could get him to come there saying there is a likelihood you will get an award you can sell but there is not a direct relationship here. The school cant directly pay them.
I completely understand why the first two are ruled out but the third not as much.

Re: 5 Buckeyes Get 5 Games
An absolute joke...suspend them NOW. If it were any other school, that would happen. Another reason they are called the "Bucks". Pryor's ego is as big as the Horseshoe and he might as well go pro now. So Sweater Vest, how do you handle this?
Screw Ohio State....and GO HOGS!!! On second thought, don't suspend them for the bowl game. They'll get ripped by the SEC anyway so make sure they're all playing.

That's how I feel. I want them at full strength when they go to 0-10 in bowl games against the SEC. No excuses.Falconfreak90 wrote:
