His ego is too big to not give it a shot..he has the personality, more than Tressell to deal with adult football players who are playing football as a job, instead of for a job.
Tressell may make a better NFL coach with his style of coaching but I can not see his personality having to deal with the Michael Vicks, Randy Moss, the TO's of the league. He enjoys being the father figure and helping the college kids grow. He doesnt want to have to babysite 30 year olds. The NFL doesn't suit him...Meyer could handle the Ego's better and he s better suited for the NFL, personality wise but he will be a horrible NFL coach because he can only run a gimmick offense..that will not work in the NFL.
I guess I don't know the two of them personally well enough to make that judgement call. Maybe someday I'll get the chance to hang out with the two guys and see how they operate. I'll get back to you if that ever happens.
Kudos to you for having that opportunity.....because I'm sure that a level-headed person such as yourself wouldn't make such personal judgements about the two individuals without acquiring that information first hand. What a wonderful life you must have had so far to have had the opportunity to sit down with Urban Meyer and talk with him about his views on the game and see his ego for what it is. And I'm sure that you must have spent a great deal of time with Tressel behind the scenes and witnessed his drive and ambition to encourage his players to grow as model citizens.
I am so envious.

First off, you don't need to know them personally to see that. You can tell by the way they act on the sidelines, in their interviews, what others who do say about them. You can get enough to make those conclusions.
Meyer has the personality and the ego to coach in the NFL. You could tell that when he was at BG. He is a NO BS type of coach who will knock you down as soon as you get a big head. He gets animated on the sideline, he yells, he gets mad he reeks of the kind of demeanor and personality that a NFL coach needs.
Watch Tress on the sidelines. He shows no emotion, he is calm, always seems cool, never seems mad. He just does his thing.
Second, those are observations, not judgements.
Third, about Tressell being the father figure, you do not have to witness it. Once again you can observe it and listen to what the players will tell you about him. No example is better than Troy and how quickly he grew up and he said that his turnaround was all thanks to Coach Tressell.
Simple observations. I pay enough attention to what goes on with OSU football, interviews, watching the actions during the games to pick up on this. Anyone who pays attention could. You being anti - OSU obviously do not pay attention.
Fourth - Your reply is the most hypocritical post ever. How dare you to tell me I can not form an opinion based on observations that I made about my team. You BG folks criticize and make observations about your pathetic coach all the time..Wow it must be so cool to know him so damn personally that you can make such judgements
Actually, I am glad I do not know him. He frickin sucks. Horrible coach.
