What about BG last year? Vast improvement, didn't have to play Texas, Texas Tech or Oklahoma-there must be others as well...bgsukid wrote:Exactly, rarely does a team make a vast improvement and get the benefit of not having to play Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech in the same season. The stars were aligned for Kansas last year. You never know though, Michigan's looking like a pretty solid contender this year.Falcons4Life wrote:There can be no "This year's Kansas...." Thus far, my prediction is holding true ... but that was the easy part of the predictionMarkL wrote: So my prediction for Michigan ... it may be bad early on. They will lose to Utah and/or Notre Dame because the offense will have miscues.
So, I've heard Michigan and Nebraska ... any more predictions for surprise team of the year? (obviously not Pitt)

Did you WATCH michigan? They SUCK. They might, just might finish last in the big ten. They looked slow, confused, and uninspired. It shouldn't have even been as close as it was. Utah was all over them. Utah left a lot of points on the field.
Michigan gets lucky if they beat Miami of Ohio this week for crying out loud.
They are a sad, sad team.

Well I didn't watch them, I was at Pitt for the game that mattered to me. I have an older brother who is a Michigan alum who told me about it. He said Sheridan looked lost, Threet showed promise, but the offense is going to take time. He said it could be a long season but he thinks the talent is there on offense to get good at the spread but the offensive line needs help bad.tekekini wrote:MarkL wrote:Thus far, my prediction is holding true ... but that was the easy part of the predictionMarkL wrote: So my prediction for Michigan ... it may be bad early on. Yeah ... about that ND game. That brother of mine called to wish me congratulations on my engagement - both my fiancee and I were able to talk to him so that was cool! But he said that we won't talk about that game ... there was no Michigan football game Saturday. As he put it, there are moments where he thinks "wow they could really pull a great season this year". The problem is those moments come with quarters, sometimes halves in between them where he thinks "this is going to be a long, long season". He's optimistic that one of these games they are just going to explode on some defense, but so far in his and my opinion, they're on the low end of where we thought they'd be but not off the chart bad. Breaking in a brand new offense with brand new skill players, so at least half a season is expected before they really gel. Now if they lose at home to Toledo, I'm guessing my brother will make great friends with a bottle of rum. And I'll feel really really dumb.

I think they are getting worse.
