Who would coach at UK?

Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.

This, to me, is a contrast between Kentucky and Indiana.

Kentucky football, relatively speaking, has great fan support. I believe they routinely sell 70,000 seats.

Kentucky is a rarely a force in SEC football. But it isn't an Indiana or a Northwestern or a Vanderbilt (God bless 'em) or a Nevada-Las Vegas.

This kind of job would have risks. No one seems to be able to figure out how to win there. But, when I look at the fan support they get, it's hard to understand why.

Other than Paul "Bear" Bryant of course. Kentucky is a perplexing program as you allude. They have outstanding fan support and top-notch facilities, yet year in and year out they are the bottom of the SEC. Part of the recent problems can be chalked up to the probation caused by Hal Mumme's actions, but other than that they have still had a rough time when it comes to mantaining a successful football program. To tell you the truth, I believe a Solich-type figure would do wonders for UK's program.

Yes, the general story is both the UK football and basketball championships won the nat'l championship (blanking on the year, think 50s or 60s). The basketball coach was award with a nice silver car, the football coach got a ncie silver key chain.
