I agree with all of this but noticed a bit of that holier than thou "we do it right here" attitude, holding themselves higher than most on this very board in the last few weeks.mmisbg wrote:If I must retract Bellisari's name, and replace it with several others, I will. However, my rationale for including his name is simple. OSU fans have, time and again, promoted Tressel's supposedly superior methods for leading his players to the high road; and, until recently, consistently maintained that Maurice Clarett was the sole blemish on an otherwise spotless track record in that regards.transfer2BGSU wrote:Explain the Belasari comment. I am familiar with the other ones, but not that one.
I apologize if my frustration level is overly apparent on this topic, but this is the very reason I divorced myself from Ohio State's fan base. Ultimately, I have learned that the fans simply hold themselves higher than most (not just about the standard of their athletic teams, but about everything relating to the university), but Tressel did everything he could to tell them exactly what they wanted to hear. He is the reason why OSU fans reached a new level of arrogance, and I have enjoyed little more over the last few months than the demise of Jim Tressel.

We ARE holier than them!!! They've had HUNDREDS if violations for fucks sake...we freaked out and contacted the complance officer at BGSU when a kid ate a hot dog at a tailgate.
WHy do you have a problem with this simple fact? OSU=Gadzillion violations. BGSU=none. Does this not make us superior...does this not make us better than them? I sure as hell think it does....

You are right that they have not happened but I would not be too surprised if something like that happened here. I think it could happen anywhere and is the nature of college sports. OSU fans were saying the exact same thing 8 months ago.Flipper wrote:We ARE holier than them!!! Re: BUCKEYES COACH IN HOT WATER!!!
No they weren't...they were rooting for a program that had already self reported hundreds of violations....well, since JT quoted Bible verses while the admitted wrong doing was going on they might have viewed it as a confession. "OK coach, say 10 hail mary's and go get us a shut down corner so we can win that big hunk o crystal".
I think cheating occurs in dierect proportion to the $$$ involved. We generate less money than a decent sized Rally's, so I think the liklihood we'll be cheating is pretty low.

Yes he does...couldn't have said it better myself. Around Green, I still see a ton of schmucks wearing O$U stuff all day saying they support JT and the Bucks. They just don't want to admit they follow a dirty program. They say "Every other school is doing it". NO, not every other school is. After years of their sanctimonius BS, it's great to see them exasperated.Falcon Fanatic wrote:+100000000000000000Flipper wrote:We ARE holier than them!!! I understand how you can get that from the thread on the football forum a while back. The celebration of our not having any major NCAA violations (with the exception of Hammb, the unscrupulous giver of bratwursts...how dare he use the sharing skills taught to him in Kindergarten) did seem to flirt boundaries of "Holier Than Thou". However, this is an online forum dedicated to fans of BGSU Athletics. This is not a family reunion, an office space, a breakroom, a sports bar, a fast food restaurant, a funeral (let alone during the eulogy), a church sermon, or any of the other inappropriate places I've listened to OSU fans displaying these behaviors. If OSU fans had limited their "Holier Than Thou" attitude to the message boards on Bucknuts.com, I don't think we would be having this conversation.Globetrotter wrote:I agree with all of this but noticed a bit of that holier than thou "we do it right here" attitude, holding themselves higher than most on this very board in the last few weeks.

I do agree its more pervasive. I dont think people marched to Greg Brandons house after he was let go.
If these types of sanctions happened here I would not be shocked. I do agree with the Rally's point (remember the shoes with the ketchup on them commercial...that was an awful commercial) and the correlation to the amount spent. We also have far less rich alumni and people in the community to give handouts. However, I would not put it past any school to have these sanctions come down on them for trying to figure out how to recruit and keep star players. I think if one school is doing it, other schools need to do it simply to compete. Are some climates more welcoming for this to happen, sure, but once I start hearing this will enver happen here and we are better then that I am hearing exactly what everyone was saying about OSU down here in Columbus. I thought it was self righteous then and it turns me off when BG fans do it too.

I don't see anyone claiming BGSU to be perfect. But, our record is pretty clean over the years and it's nice to take pride in that.

It's dumb remarks like that make me ask if your comment is for real or in jest. But I have come to the conclusion that you really believe we should bring in a cancer (T Pryor) and/or a coach that has lied not only to the NCAA and his superiors but committed a fraud on "the Buckeye-nation" to do the same thing to our school.
If bringing in these two characters is needed to increase our fan base, then I am extremely happy with the size of our fan base as it is.
It's not a "holier-than-thou" attitude. It's what I expect from anyone that I associate with. It's what I expect from my alma mater. Do things the right way, not the quick way.

You are Stupid.
Its remarks like that, that make me remind you. It's a logical sequence. Look at steroids in baseball.
In thinking about it I would love to have Coach Tressell here. The good would outweight the bad IMO. Also IMO, Pryor is a guy who cant get out of his own way and we have some shaky guys on the basketball team already who have been doing well. He might be an anchor and bring down the hole program for a year of positives.

I can only see one "good" - we may win more. But one man (Pryor) does not make a team. I still would not support having Tressel here - he would not clean his act up and in 5-10 years we'd be facing what OSU is facing.Globetrotter wrote:You are Stupid.

So I know this is not the only alternative but we are coming off a 2-10 win season with one of the lowest investments in a football program in the country. And I think you are overstating Tressells trangressions.musicman2343 wrote:I can only see one "good" - we may win more. But one man (Pryor) does not make a team. Re: BUCKEYES COACH IN HOT WATER!!!
Actually no, I'm not. The man is a cheater - he has always been a cheater. It's documented in his days at YSU and he just picked up and his ways to OSU. He has over 10 years of head coaching experience and has most likely not been "straight up" in any of them. I now reference the article I posted earlier about him cheating prospects in a raffle - as Hammb said, "That says everything you need to know about his character." I don't want him at BG. Period.
