The football team has only been in trouble ONCE on a dumb mistake by the QB, Tressell suspended him for two games, and nothing else came about it. The NCAA agreed with the punishment it is fine.HoustonFalcon wrote:. OSU has been in trouble way too much in the past to think that any coach has totally cleaned up a program. .
They got rid of the basketball coach who caused all of the problems for the athletics. O'briend was fied a week after he told, on his own, that he gave money to a recruit who was already ineligble anyways for playing pro Europe ball.
Tressel has cleaned up the football a lot and it wasnt that bad to begin with. If he can keep the boosters away from scrweing the players over he'd be in a really good spot. He has the football team performing in the classroom which is one thing Cooper never did (Katzenmoyer for example).
I know they werent always as clean as they are now, but Tressell is just getting started.
I disagree that everybody cheats. I would agree that everyone does something that is questionable, but not everyone does something that would grab the NCAA's attention and call for post season bans and scholly cuts.
When you say "OSU cheats because their players are given grades" I dont take that as OSU cheating. I call that bad judgement on the players and the teachers, firends and or whoever does their work for them. I would agree that players from every school get help on homework and classes but I dont think anyone is "given" grades on the level that some of you make it sound.
Some of you make it sound like an OSU player just goes to class once a semester and they pass.. Thats not true and it is a rediculous claim.
Everybody does some questionable things but I dont think everyone does flat out illegal things and that some are just better at hiding it than others. I think that is bogus.
