This quote from Kirk:

"Eighty to ninety percent of the Ohio State fans are great. It's the vocal minority that make it rough. They probably represent only 5 to 10 percent of the fan base, but they are relentless."

I would think it was the other way around. At any rate, that is a real shame he had to do what he did. I like the guy and think he does a great job on ESPN...he is not biased at all, IMO.
I would like to know what he thinks of the 5-10% of OSU fans that aren't great, but aren't the vocal minority. Are they just quiet A**holes?

Absolutely right Freak. He consistently ripped the Big 10 and praised the SEC which, while obvious, couldn't have been easy for a person with his history and position in that community.

Having their AD chair the most high profile NCAA committee while the same organization "investigates" their program is a disgrace.

I hope I'm wrong, but I still don't think he'll lose his job over this.

I don't see him surviving this. Everytime more information comes out he looks worse. Any other coach with less success would be gone already. They are going to vacate the entire 2010 season and the NCAA is going bring it down on them. Who knows what else they find once they start digging around there. You rarely get caught the first time you do something. It all depends on how long the NCAA takes but he will eventually be forced to step down IMO. No way he gets any less than a full year suspension.

Plus he no longer has his squeaky clean image that his adorable sweater vest gave him. Everyone knows now that he cheats, lies and withholds information.

I think in this whole matter it will depend on how the team does during the 2011 season, if its a standard Ohio State season I think he keeps just job, while if its a down year from Ohio State standards, he'll be out, kinda like how the situation played out with Bruce Pearl and Tennessee

How the team does NEXT year should have ZERO bearing on what happens to him for what he did THIS past year! PERIOD!! You break the rules, you lie about, and then lie about it REPEATEDLY, then you should be done. DONE!

I think Tressel (and OSU) is lucky that this whole thing hit the fan during March Madness when the sports networks are otherwise occupied with the tournament. If this happened before or after, it would really be the only thing they would focus on. That being said, once the tournament is over, I think more and more stuff will come to light.

"Jim Tressel: Fired or Not, He's the New Face of Scumbag Coaches".

Too funny...this soap opera keeps getting better every day. BTW, the Columbus Dispatch conducted a phone poll in the last couple days and 83% of those polled still support Tressel. The sheeple are blind and in complete denial. What a pathetic crowd they are...

The radio down here is acting like this is not an OSU issue, that it was the players who took him and did this so the institution can not get a black eye from it. Who put him in those players hands?

They all think it is just about some tats the players received in exchange for memorablia. It's the cover-up not the crime, and as they say the cover-up is usually much worse than the crime. It's clear that JT will go to any length necessary to ensure his star players are on the field.

Initially I was hoping they would ax him but as I think about it more and more I hope they keep him. If they got rid of him they could save a lot of face with the NCAA and the public, but if they keep him he may tarnish their school's reputation and they risk severe penalties.

Their current 5 game suspension is a joke. He still has full access to the univeristy all spring, summer, and fall. He just has to stay away on gamedays. A true 5 game suspension should mean he is entirely disassociated from practices, team meetings and events until after the Michigan State game.
