Re: Would you hire Tressell as head coach here
I want Tressel for Football and Bruce Pearl for Basketball. Stat. They will both be looking for a job to clean up their reputation. They'll come to BG, do things the right way and then move on after a few years of awesome performance on and off the field (You know, because the microscope will be set at 25X), maybe a couple MAC Championships in both, NCAA Tourney appearances, BCS Buster, and then they can ride off into the sunset and go screw the pooch at some other school. Win/Win.

If that scenario would actually play-out if we hired those two, then we should hire them. Unfortunately, I highly doubt it would work that way, and one or both of these coaches would fall back into old habits while coaching at BGSU, so I am going to stick to my guns and tell them to go screw the pooch to each other.VDub26Falcon wrote:I want Tressel for Football and Bruce Pearl for Basketball. While I don't favor Tressell coaching the Falcons, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Bruce Pearl at BG (and not just because it'd be a great excuse to keep wearing the "Bruce Pearl is my homeboy" t-shirts.) While what Pearl did was still fairly bad, I have to think that having a few recruits over for a cookout is nowhere near as bad as what went down at OSU. Problem is, Pearl did initially try to cover it up, and that's what ultimately cost him his job. But I still don't think the Pearl case and Tressell case are really that comparable, despite what sports radio in Knoxville would like me to believe.
