UofM v. ND
Anyone else watching this game?
Started off ugly with two huge interceptions (one apiece) and now Michigan seems to be pulling away a bit.
Big TD pass by Henne to Manningham (XP blocked) and then ND loses a fumble on the ensuing kickoff.
13-7 and Michigan is on the doorstep again.
*edit: 20-7. Michigan scored as I clicked enter.*

By no means did I say it was over. I know better than to count out a team ranked as high as ND before the 1st half is even over, especially the way Michigan has been finding ways to lose big games lately.TG1996 wrote:History of this series has the lead changing hands 15 more times before the game's over.

Good showing by U of M. Their defense was able to corral a ND team that has been hyped up and apparently expected to be near unstoppable. I'd be willing to say that ND is a little overrated (although still quite good) and that Michigan deserves a bit more respect than they've gotten thus far. 11 over 2 is a big difference.

I was just thinking after watching this game, that it could be concevible that Michigan could move to #2 obviously with help from the teams ahead of them, by the end of the season if they countiue to play well and if OSU is able to get through the rest of thier season without a loss, it could possibly set up another 1 v 2 game. That would be really werid, surely that hasnt happened before?

I would be surprised if that has happened before in the regular season, but in 1996 Florida and Florida State played in the regular season ranked #1 and #2 and then played in a bowl game but I don't know if they were 1 and 2 for the second meeting.GMBG2006 wrote:I was just thinking after watching this game, that it could be concevible that Michigan could move to #2 obviously with help from the teams ahead of them, by the end of the season if they countiue to play well and if OSU is able to get through the rest of thier season without a loss, it could possibly set up another 1 v 2 game. With the Big 10 looking weak as ever this year, it is possible both scUM and OSU are unbeaten when the meet in the Shoe. Personally, I think LLLLoyd will figure out a way to lose to MSU or Penn State or someone before facing the Buckeyes.

I hate to say it, as a Michigan fan, but I must agree. Even watching them control ND through the entire first half, all I could think was, "OK, so when are they going to let it go and lose?"98_BG_GRAD wrote:Personally, I think LLLLoyd will figure out a way to lose to MSU or Penn State or someone before facing the Buckeyes.
I hope they can go into Columbus undefeated and leave with a victory, but nothing's ever for sure in that game, especially with the talent on OSU's side this season. They've got so many weapons, I just don't think Michigan will be able to control them all.
Of course, if Michigan gets their stuff together, they've got a couple good weapons on their side as well.

This game was more a product of ND being grossly overrated than UM being world beaters.
Michigan has a good team this year, and with English at the helm, the defense is worlds better. They're still not as good as OSU, but they should be able to run over most of a weak B11. If both teams are undefeated at the time of the big one, well, that would be one of the most anticipated games in CFB history.
I say both teams drop a game along the way and play each other for the rose bowl.

Roll Along!
honest question. Who would possibly beat OSU or UM before they play each other??? From what I see, Iowa is overrated as I had thought all along (Freak still seems to disagree despite their struggles in every game) MSU isnt that great, they have just played weak opponents thus far. I dont know who UM plays this week but if they avoid the "let down game" I will be expecting two undefeated teams and one rowdy atmosphere in columbus for OSU v UM.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:This game was more a product of ND being grossly overrated than UM being world beaters.

Thing is, knowing tradition, Michigan will hit a let down (or two) before late November rolls around. While the rest of the Big 10 is down somewhat, their next five games are about as killer in-conference as you can get. Wisconsin (H), Minnesota (A), Michigan State (H), Penn State (A), Iowa (H). If they come away from that with even just one loss, I think UM fans would be ecstatic.tekekini wrote:honest question. Who would possibly beat OSU or UM before they play each other??? But you're right, MSU has skated by on cream puffs (although they took pretty good control of Pitt yesterday) and Iowa looked less impressive than they should have at home vs. Iowa State.

don't forget PSU got creamed by ND, Didnt Minnesota get creamed in week 2 by someone? I know those games do not mean anything to those teams with one loss as the new season (conference play) begins but it still reflects the type of teams that they have. Other than OSU and UM I am less than impressed with anyone else

As a puesdo (sp) Michigan fan, I don't see U of M wining the Big Ten. We'll proably end up losing a game or two before OSU. Ya'll can say what you want about MSU. You can't discount State. That's a bigger rivalry than most people give it credit. Wisky has enough to make things interesting, as does PSU. Once agian, I don't see UM winning the conference, but I do see them keeping others from winning, and making it very tough for whoever does.
