OSU game in Columbus will be televised on ESPNU. Some fans are crying. We're thrilled that BG is on ESPNU and we'll make arrangements to see the game on TV. Entitled OSU fans are upset. Hey, Buckeye fans--go to the game. It's in Columbus! Or make arrangements to see the game. Or pony up and get ESPNU. It's not like ESPNU is shown only in Siberia. Get a grip OSU fans!

Yeah I don't want to make a big deal about this but living in Columbus a few of their fans are acting like it's some huge conspiracy by ESPN against osu. It never ends.

Just listening to it on the radio is one solution this guy brought up. Hell it's what I do every Saturday in Columbus when I want to hear the Falcons.

you can't just walk up to the ticket office and get a ticket for a OSU game..and ESPNU isn't offered through all outlets, for example Time Warner doesn't offer it.

It's not too tough go to a damn bar that does carry it or listen to it on the radio.

Actually, it's in Bloomington.

OSU did make arrangements so students living on-campus could see the game in their residence hall rooms.

In addition, OSU and ESPN came to an agreement where Ohio News Network (ONN) will replay the game at 11:00 PM Saturday evening and 8:00 PM Sunday.

Just wait until next year when the Big Ten Network puts the OSU-Michigan game on it's channel and Time-Warner decides not to carry the channel.

I agree Matt.

Let's all contact the Columbus Dispatch and raise hell because BG-Temple is not being shown on television in the area.Too late to start about the CMU game on ESPNU tomorrow night.

I think a few sell outs in a row might be needed first. One can only hope...

If our game isn't on TV, I'll happily listen to the radio, and perform an interpretive shadow puppet show, to convey the action.

If the OSU game isn't on TV, I'll light a couch on fire, get drunk, and drive a car into a member of the OSU student affairs staff and his wife, to convey the nominal fan reaction to most games.

The locals I'm sure are peeved because they can't get their thirty year old B&W TV's hooked up to the car battery to watch the game while adding meaningfully to the human condition in the tail-gating zone.

no all OSU fans are throwing as fit about it so be a little more realistic. its a small percent.

but they got a point. This is the beginning to all of sports becomming PPV events. Forever, people have been able to watch their home team on TV every weekend for free.

Now they are being forced to pay extra money to watch their home team in the home market.

Its going to get worse next year when the big ten channel comes out and the meaningless games arent carried on espn plus or abc or espn on abc and they are carried on the big ten channel that you will have to pay an extra 20 bucks or so because you wont be able to just buy the big ten channel but you will have to buy 24 other channels to go with it.

The problem with the game being on ESPNU is that there is not a single cable company in Columbus who carries ESPNU. Not one. it is only offered on satellite through direct TV or dish network in columbus. The majority of the population has cable.

in order to buy ESPNU on satellite you have to upgrade to "super package" whihc is about 125 bucks a month which in my case would cost me double what my bill is now at 60/month witht he super 60 package. thats 65 extra bucks a month times 12 months a year. thats a hell of a lot of unecessary money to watch your local team play.

thats why people are bitching. its not necessarily the fact they cant watch it it is that they have to pay a significant amount of money to watch it.

ESPN is trying to get ESPNU accepted by all the major companies to add it to the normal packages (like ESPN2 did 10 years or so when it first came out) so they are trying to get a lot of big time games to force people to buy it and the cable companies to want to add it. from what i hear they have a lot of big games set for next year. USC v. CAL is one of em.

It is going to have an effect on everyone eventually until the cable companies make it part of their package. then we will go through it again with the big ten channel. then other conferences will follow suit and we will have the acc channel and the sec channel the MAC channel etc..

eventually all major big time games will be PPV. it may be 15 years down the road but it is going to happen.

thats why OSU fans are upset becasue they are already starting to see what it is going to be like. they do not think it is a conspiracy against them. they dont want to pay extra money to see their local team but they will get games such as northwestern and MSU for free.

That is unecessary
