again..
Ohio State is poised to replace the turf in Ohio Stadium for the second time in just over a month so that when what could be the biggest game in the history of the Ohio State-Michigan series starts Nov. 18, the teams will be on solid footing.

Must be nice just to drop $100K whenever you feel like you need something new. What a waste.
The turf did look a bit tattered during the clips I saw of the Minnesota game.

it was pretty bad(the field)....and to think...they might replace it next year with Field Turf...so in essence, they might drop $75-100K for one game...the Michigan game.

There's no might, they will be putting in field turf. Sweatervest has said as much and what he says is pretty much gospel down there.

I can hear Buckeye fans now. Only if they replaced the sod before the game in which Shawn Springs slipped on a slant that Tai Streets took to the endzone for the winning TD. 96, I believe.

The field looked pretty crappy on Saturday. Mostly along the sidelines.
Part of the problem is that the field is below grade and that the air doesn't move through the stadium like it did before the renovation, and the angle of the sun isn't like it is in the summer. Also, replacing the turf when they did before the BG game didn't help things. We have had both a wet and a cold fall in C-bus.
While some speculate that Field Turf is on its way, I think that they might stick with grass, at least for another year. They usually replace the sod every 5 years. This was to be the last year of the sod that was replaced before the BG game.
To be quite honest, while the field was bad, it wasn't as bad as it was when BG played Toledo and Miami in back to back games after Thanksgiving. We had wet weather and the field wasn't able to be in top shape for the Miami game.

Sod for football programs are normally replaced every two to three years according to the dispatch articles this fall.
2) Ohio state doesn't know how to maintain their fields, I don't care what weather issues you may have, how do you kill grass in three weeks?
3) Who cares about OSU? I live in Columbus and could care less... great time to go grocercy shopping is during the game!

They have an agricultural school and can't grow grass! WOW.
I don't believe BG's field has ever been resodded, but maintained over the years (even if some BOZO did overseed with bent grass), and looks much better than OSU's field.
