Billy Donovan turns down Kentucky to stay at Florida, then yesterday denies knowledge that his agent was in talks with the Orlando Magic about their head coaching job.

And today...
Orlando has a coach

I wonder if he consulted Pitino before making this decision. Stupid IMO, he is on top of the world at UF.

Too bad..

Meyer will be off to the NFL in a year or two and Florida will be a basement dweller school where they belong along with Miami and FSU.

Exactly how often has Florida, Miami and FSU been in the basement of their respective conferences?

Well, if you go back to the 1970s, Miami (Florida) and Florida State were independents. Miami wasn't any good, either. I'm not sure about Florida State, but I don't think Florida was making much noise in the Southeastern in that era.

So it's been quite a while, but there was a time...

I wouldn't hold your breath about Meyer going to the NFL. I don't think he would make a good NFL coach, and I don't know too many people who disagree with me. I think he has a great thing in Florida, and I think he knows it.

I'm not certain about this, but I think that the NFL might actually involve a cut in pay for him. Either way, he has no need to leave Florida, and I don't see him doing it any time soon.

As much as I hate Ohio State, I think that Tressel might be a more likely candidate for the NFL. His style of ball would lend itself to NFL schemes much better. And heck, in the NFL he won't have to worry about covering it up when his players are getting paid.

Peace out.....word to your mother.

Some team will make an offer to him that he can't refuse and he will go. You're probably correct on him not making a good NFL coach though.

Nothing wrong with taking a 3 million dollar raise per year. If you don't win in the NBA, you just go back to the NCAA and pretty much have any job you want.
Seems to me like a easy decision when you have been to the top in your industry.

Hey all you idiot Ron Niekamp lovers.......This is the time where you start saying you think Ron Niekamp would be a great choice to replace Billy Donovan because Niekamp has won so many games at Findlay!! :-D :-D

It all sounds great but it won't be the same when he goes back.

They both might be basketball but the NBA and the NCAA are almost opposites.

I wouldnt call it a fantasy. More like a continual harrassment of the ignorant posters that actually thought Niekamp and Jim Welling should have been candidates for the BGSU job. That might as well be given the joke of the year award, and I will continue to make fun of their ignorance until I deem they've had enough punishment for not thinking before they post.

I didnt say he wouldnt make a good coach but he will go. What else would he have to accomplish in College football if he wins another title? His ego is too big to not give it a shot..he has the personality, more than Tressell to deal with adult football players who are playing football as a job, instead of for a job.

Tressell may make a better NFL coach with his style of coaching but I can not see his personality having to deal with the Michael Vicks, Randy Moss, the TO's of the league. He enjoys being the father figure and helping the college kids grow. He doesnt want to have to babysite 30 year olds. The NFL doesn't suit him...Meyer could handle the Ego's better and he s better suited for the NFL, personality wise but he will be a horrible NFL coach because he can only run a gimmick offense..that will not work in the NFL.
