ND's Jones to NIU?
On Game Day it is being speculated that Notre Dame's opening day starter will be enrolling in classes at NIU this year so he can play for the Huskies next year. Interesting.

Not so fast there my friend....
Are you talking about the same guy that
1. enrolled at NIU on a Wednesday?
2. practiced with the ND football team the following day?
3. and then skipped the bus to Michigan on a Friday?
I think someone has some growing up to do before ND releases him (and besides, if you want to be treated like an adult, you should act like an adult - he signed a letter of intent to play at ND and ND agreed to provide him with a grant to cover the cost of his schooling. ND is living up to their end of the agreement.).
In the end, ND will release him from his scholarship. Although I read someting today that said they would not release him to attend NIU.

Lets put all the facts on the table
1) There is no scholly available this year for him at NIU, so he has to pay his own way regardless. Next year he will not have to pay his own way as a scholly will be available.
2) Scholly's are only good for a year, and are renewed on an annual basis. If a player has left the program then he can't renew his contract to receive his scholarship for next year, so he won't be held to still be at ND.
3) Weis is an ass, getting his ass handed to him, if players want to leave, let them leave. Coaches can abruptly leave all the time, why not the players?
