No one should be surprised at all by this. Dayton beat Finlay by 2 last week and was very lucky to do so. They shot 16-32 from 3 and are damn good. With that said no one should put any stock into exhibition games.

Kudos to the Oilers! I'm glad we don't play 'em that could get ugly, they could beat a lot of D1 teams this year.

and that's why Findlay is never on our men's basketball schedule anymore

Exhibition or not...rediculous for Ohio State to ever get beat by Findlay. If they would have beaten us it would have been like the sky had fallen.

Postgame Quotes

Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
On the game
“First I would like to give Findlay all the credit in the world. They are a great team. I think this team (Ohio State) needed this in some ways, but we are going to continue to build.”

On what to take from the game
“We will make this into a positive and we will continue to progress. It is really eye-opening and we will continue to stress the small things.”

On Findlay pulling away
“The 16-2 run really knocked our socks off. We need to take away certain things and we didn’t and they beat us.”

Actually, we did play Findlay a few years ago during the 2003-04 season and we won 64-50. But in the season opener of the 1991-92 season, Findlay knocked us off 79-68.

Wow!

 Now I don't feel so bad over beating Wayne St. by only 15. Shouldn't Teke be popping out some where with a bagful of excuses.

In no way is this ridiculous. Ohio St. is a young team that will be good. They will go on to win 20+ games this season. I hate Ohio States basketball program with a passion, but playing a team like Findlay in an exhibition game where they are trying to get the line-ups set and substitution patterns set for the year while Findlay is playing this game for all the marbles is an easy recipe or a loss. Ohio St. blows Findlay away in a regular season game.

I don't think you'll find that many people on here who would think the sky was falling if Findlay beat us, especially in an exhibition game. They are the #5 team D2 and have several guys I wish played here. I would expect this BG team to get beat by the team Findlay has this year.

I repeat Ohio State should never get beat by Findlay in ANY sport at any time...am I crazy in thinking this. What a problem they must have trying to "gell" with all of their 5 star recruits.

Obviously, but who cares? If Ohio State goes on to win 24 games and make the sweet sixteen will this game matter? If this was Ohio St. season opener and they just dropped to 0-1 it would be a big deal. The season didn't start tonight for OSU, they're not going to drop in the polls or lose any sleep. The biggest thing for those players will be the next couple practices this week....ouch.

A Big 10 team that went to the national championship game last year just lost to division 2 Findlay.
