As I sit here, I can here the stunned silence descending across the central Ohio region.......
OSU scores on the opening kick-off against Florida, then loses.
OSU scores on the second play from scrimmage, then loses.
That last drive was over 8:30 long, roughly. They held it roughly 13 out of the last 15 minutes. And according to the Ill. coach, he got talked out of punting on 4 and 1 during an OSU timeout.
Wow. And Michigan lost, so beating UM will amount to a after-thought nationally.

All I heard all week, was the about how good the running game was at Illinois. Yep, its good, but it opened up the passing game. They made OSU's defense look silly. A nice gameplan.

They finally played a team with great speed. You spread that defense out and they are not that good.

The SEC will crow about this too. I recall, sitting in the posh sports bar on deck 13 of the Navigator of the Seas, as SEC fans in general flocked to crow about how OSU and the Big Ten had no speed.
Maybe its the color orange?
Lets see what they do next week.

Exactly. I didn't think that Illinois would win today, but I thought they would play OSU tough enough to expose them as a fraud at #1. The combination of speed in the backfield and unbelievable blocking up front got them the win. A fast defense made OSU's offense look pretty average as well.
Is there a team in the Big 10 that would finish above .500 in the SEC?

In the thread "Who will OSU lose to" I called this one. OSU is young and not as focused as past teams. That was the game where a presumed "gimmie" win would come back and bite them in the backside. The only good in my mind is that now the Rose Bowl will have the Big Ten champ as it should be each and every year. It is tradition and it should always be so.

I actually had a free ticket to the game. I wasn't going to go but most of my friends are brainwashed so I tagged along. I was wearing my BG hockey sweatshirt.
The little scuffle at the end was because Illinois was cheering and dancing on the osu circle at the center of the field. The buckeyes wanted to defend the circle after the loss. What was hilarious was the osu fans were complaining that Illinois was celebrating too much after the win.
The stunned silence was great. What was also great was hearing everyone on the way out of the stadium saying "We Suck," "We got exposed," and "We're going to the toilet bowl." I just laughed and agreed with them.

Ah yes. Another example of people letting themselves get brainwashed by hype and ESPN. They are playing for a Big Ten title, which is far more than they had reason to expect in September. They are going to possibly go to the Rose Bowl, which used to be a high honor, worthy of forsaking the BCS for.
Now its the toilet bowl and their season is over. What insanity.
The looks on their faces was priceless. Totally and utterly stunned into silence.
I give them all about 12 hours until the natural state of hostility towards Michigan takes hold and puts their minds right. Indeed, their loss tonight will only make hating Michigan burn brighter in their souls.
I was reading OSU and MSU groups had Appalachian State items made in Buckeye and Spartan colors. Should be a hoot.

At every Browns game that I've been to this season, there's been a guy selling t shirts that say, "How many batteries does it take to beat Michigan? One Double A."

So did Tinibikini. Congratulations, Tekie, you were dead bang correct on your concern for the Illini thumping osu. You may take a well earned bow.
