not much info out yet but they said the threat has been eliminated, whatever that means...just heard this on my local news. Channel 2 in Dayton.

News from the Chicago stations are that there are no fatalities except the shooter and some injuries. Classes at all campuses are canceled today and tomorrow. It's still unfolding so I would not put any stock in finite numbers just yet.

My condolences go out to all of the people at NIU . As a former employee that worked in the office of orientation only 2 years ago this tragedy really hits home for me. Especially because I stood in that exact lecture hall for an entire summer and welcomed new students to NIU. This is truly tradgey ..... Fight on HUSKIES Fight on.........

After talking to some friends and former collegues at the insitution I can tell you that approximatley 17 students were injuried and the gunman took his on life...

Sadly the death toll has risen to six. Two have died at the hospital.

WHY????? I will never understand things like this. Totally senseless!!!

My prayers go out to the entire NIU community....I am so sorry this happened. May God give them strength to get thru this.
