Former Ohio State player sentenced for sexual battery

DAYTON, Ohio (AP)—A former Ohio State defensive end accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to a year in prison for sexual battery.

Jason Simmons, who played for the Buckeyes in the early 1990s, faced up to 15 years in prison when he was sentenced Thursday in Dayton.

Prosecutors say Simmons, a teacher at Northmont Middle School in suburban Dayton, developed a relationship with the girl following a school trip to Washington, D.C.

Simmons pleaded guilty to sexual battery May 12.

And before anybody starts in on it, it's a news article about a player from a different school. That is messed up. And I don't care if the guy played at OSU or Grambling, that is still messed up.

If you are trying to get a comment out of me then you are not going to get one other than this post. I can not comment directly on this as I work for the State's sex offender registration for the Attorney General's office.

So if that was your goal then sorry, you get nothing further from me on this topic....no matter who it is...ever.

Of course you can comment on it- its a matter of public record. There's no conflict of interest-even the attorney's will comment on it- prosecutor and defense, in the media before its all said and done.
