Dover vs. New Philadelphia...

Tonight is the 104th meeting between the 8-1 Tornadoes and 8-1 Quakers. The series is tied 47-47-9 and we'll be there to see Dover finally take the lead. New Phila has led the whole time thanks to some big winning streaks over the Tornadoes in the 40's and 50's. NP hosts tonight...

Dover will earn the ECOL title all to themselves and a first round home game in the playoffs with a win tonight. NP needs to win to guarantee a playoff game and here's the kicker...they could meet next week in the first round.

This is a day most people in Dover never thought would come...a chance to take the lead in this historic series. My dad graduated in 1958 and at the time, Dover trailed in the series by 20+ games. He's 68 now and is more than ready for tonight.

Gives me a ray of hope that someday, someday, BG can acutally catch Miami...

GO DOVER!!!!!! CRUSH THE QUAKERS!!!!!!!!

How could Quakers possibly overcome Tornadoes? Wouldn't they just gently hand over the football and step aside to avoid conflict?

And Dover rolls to a 30-7 victory! The ironic thing...Dover could host NP next Sat night at Dover in the 1st round of the playoffs. I'll be at the BG/Kent game and won't be able to get down to Dover in time so I'll have to have my dad call with score updates.

GO DOVER!

Geez, mm, lighten up a little. Folks here dig their h.s. football, too and I wouldn't say they haven't grown up.

I can see why your friend from New Phila doesn't know the facts. After NP ran up the score on Dover in 1956, 72-0 (they left their first string in the whole game and Dover was playing a lot of underclassmen due to illness), Dover has won 34 and lost 16....throwing out the ties. In fact, Dover has beaten NP 12 of the last 14 and most of these games weren't even close.

Try telling my parents to "grow up". They've been going to HS games since the 50's. Dover has an AWESOME following and always will.

NC HS football doesn't see this cuz there isn't the tradition like OH. It's like following HS hoops in Indiana.

Freak what division is Dover?

I'm pretty pumped my alma-matter is making their 1st playoff appearance this year. Kettering Fairmont. Actually got a good draw, Northmont in the 1st round who won a tight one in the regular season. But really it's good because they don't play Colerain round 1

Hey now, we averaged 3,300 for hoops my senior year and a little over 9,000 for football.

I would take Ohio hoops against Indiana hoops! It's all that Hoosier crap in Indy. Although I like the way they do their playoff system for hoops.

Or at least *did* their playoff system until a few years ago.

i do however like how ohio does their hs football playoff system. using it kinda of like a bcs system instead of teams just playing each other to get out of the region when its very possible to have two of the best teams in the same region have to play each other in early rounds.
