Another Rose Bowl Ruined
Another Rose Bowl Ruined
Thanks Big Ten. Just once I'd like to enjoy more than just the first quarter of that bowl game. Winning the Big Ten is like being the smartest kid on the short bus. Another awful bowl season for them...how embarrassing.

yeah... that was a pretty disappointing game. I'm glad that Penn State never gave up and made it somewhat interesting the the 2nd half. that makes USC the winners for the past 3 years right? I had to turn it off before the end of the game

Making no excueses for the Big 10... but they have had 1 favorable matchup in all of their bowl games.
However... not seeing that USC was going to dominate Penn State, is like Tucker Max not making fun of a dumb blonde and completely destroying her ego with which only massive amounts of therapy may only be able to cure.

I know I will upset people around here saying this because they think Ohio high school football is one of the top states, but football in the mid west and Ohio is not what it use to be from high school on up. Once you get away from your St. Ignatious's and Cincinnati Elder's the state has not kept up with the changes in football in the last decade.
PSU and OSU's defenses are great in the Big Ten. The cover 3 and the defenses they run work well there because there is nobody who can expose them. When spread out by top level receivers those linebackers and defensive backs look slow and out of position.
Texas will most likely move up and down the field on OSU. Can't fault OSU too much because they haven't seen a talented team since USC.

Exactly. All this mythology about great Big Ten defense rises only from the fact the Big Ten doesn't have a top notch offense to challenge anyone. PSU and OSU can move the ball pretty effectively in conference, but put them on the field against USC and forget it.kdog27 wrote:I know I will upset people around here saying this because they think Ohio high school football is one of the top states, but football in the mid west and Ohio is not what it use to be from high school on up. The air has been coming out of the tires for years, this is simply the phase where it becomes absurdly obvious the Big Ten needs to change the brand of football it plays.
The real joy in this, is that it will lead to more conventional Big Ten talent bleeding down to the MAC as the changes take place.

This may have been one of the best USC teams ever, not to mention that they had perhaps one of the top defenses ever.
Penn. State got blitzed one quarter.
I hate the fact that any team playing USC in the Rose Bowl is playing pretty much an away game. Big10 travel across the country USC hops a bus and goes 10 miles.

Yup, I agree 100%. I was at the Jan 1 2004 Rose Bowl between Michigan and USC. Cheap trip, awesome, perks of having family in the Michigan Marching Band. The USC band printed up shirts that read "the road to the national championship" and then printed a road map from the campus to the Rose Bowl. Of course, USC won the game and won a share of the championship ... at home.Falcon137 wrote: I hate the fact that any team playing USC in the Rose Bowl is playing pretty much an away game. Anytime USC plays a big 10 team i always put them as my 34 point team in my bowl pick em. Also it really ticked me off all season that just because USC lost to an oregon state team that won 9 games they dropped so far in the polls. They went from number 1 to like number 8 or something like that after they lost. Also, careful what you say about high school football in Ohio, thats crossing the line for some folks on here
Why do you think OSU's last class and the one that will sign in February has more out of state kids than in state kids...count em up.kdog27 wrote:I know I will upset people around here saying this because they think Ohio high school football is one of the top states, but football in the mid west and Ohio is not what it use to be from high school on up. JT is looking to run a faster spread out offense in the future. They are probably going to get tahj Boyd (#4 rated QB on most rankings) who will take over for Pryor when he leaves in 2 years. He is the same type of player that Pryor is.
They also got two big time runnings backs coming in and neither one of them is from Ohio. One from Jeanette, Pa and the other is from one of the Miami Florida High schools. Not to mention Chris Carter's kid is coming next year
