Nah, we're talking about basketball here. You know, that sport that OSU people only pretend they care about when their team winds up in a Final Four every ten years or so. That's how the vast majority of OSU fans are...they care only about football. Try talking hoops or hockey with the average OSU backer and you get a blank stare.tiznow wrote:Good point. I went to the OSU/Purdue game a couple weeks ago at the Schott. At halftime, the OSU glee club sang 'Hang on Sloopy' and a number of other 'OHIO'-related songs. It got absolutely nothing out of the "fans". If they did that at a football game, 100,000 people would have been going nuts.
My intense hatred for OSU athletics started with the OSU basketball "fans". I was always a fan of the OSU football and basketball teams and could not have been more annoyed with the scale of the bandwagon during the '99 run to the Final Four. Absolutely nobody watched that team throughout the year and then they went on a run to the Final Four and everybody became Scoonie Penn's biggest fan.

The problem with that is it comes out "O(hio) sucks and everyone thinks you're talking about OU. Now it works well for schools that don't have another school with the same first name like say...Oh,...hmmmm,...Let me think...Portland State, but not so well with Michigan State for example because of Michigan. Well, that would work if you allow for only applying your rule to the first letter. Following it all the way, it would be "O(hio) S(tate) U(niversity) cks." Unfortunately I can say the same for most of my BG friends as well and that includes football. You obviously dont know that bg is a hockey school. P.S. I love that blank stare that they give when you tell them that you arent a fan of either osu nor michigan, as if they didnt know there were 119 other schools out there to cheer for.
