The first products featuring the Rocky logo are custom ties created by Vineyard Vines, a clothing company based on Martha’s Vineyard. The pink or blue ties can be found in the bookstores on Main and Health Science campuses and in the UTMC gift shop.

Ew. I can't say that I'm a fan of that logo [much like I wasn't a fan of our new logo - although peek-a-boo is growing on me.]
They have a solid logo with the drawn rocket through Toledo. Why mess it up with what looks to be a pokeman character?

That has got to be one of the strangest and dumbest logos I've ever seen. If they were a low level minor league baseball team, or a minor league hockey team... maybe. But it looks so silly it's hard to take it seriously.
I won't argue with the fact that a logo change can be cool every now and then, but as a sports team, you generally want people to take you seriously, and that logo just looks way too cartoonish for me to take it seriously.

The tertiary mark, that was supposed to be delayed by a year, has been leaked to bloggers:
Who in the heck is in charge at that school?
From a purely semiotic point a view, the logo does nothing to promote UT. Think about it this way - if you were to put that on a hat, how clear do you think the 'traditional' mark would be? If you didn't know anything about UT, there would be nothing to indicate that it is a university that associates themselves with gay astronauts.
Of course, anyone who has seen that thing roller-shoeing around at basketball games associate anything looking like a gay astronaut with UT.

That is EXACTLY what I thought. It looks like they used cryogenics to create a new logo.
