Doesn't the timing seem quite a bit suspect? A journalist releasing an article the weekend before kickoff criticizing one of the top programs in the country? Seems to me a LOT like somebody trying to make a lot of noise and create a name for himself. Not saying U of M is fine or RR is not in a creek without a paddle, but the timing seems to raise some red flags, as does citing anonymous players or targeting freshmen with potentially misleading questions ...

WJR was talking about the timing. They suggested it had less to do with the football program as such, as something "else," like the AD or administration. The host cited the "blown relationship" with WJR as one example. WJR is a beast of an AM station, you can pick up the signal on the moon, and children with braces hear it in their sleep. Yet seemingly out of the blue, they dropped UM for MSU. That always struck me odd, now that UM has a patchwork of stations making up for the massively powerful WJR.
I think attacking the football program, while technically defensible, might have more to do with other motivations.
