Here's RF's post from NCAA boards. Not quite the same as RF reporting that Stoops is in, but ...ballpark.

"Word is that Weis will be fired and Bob Stoops will be the next coach at ND. I've heard this from some very reliable sources. I wouldn't believe it myself if it were not from these two sources. I'm hearing Stoops will be named Wednesday or Thursday"

Imagine that. RF appears to have some unreliable sources...LOL...as Stoops takes his name out of the running.

I'd be absolutely stunned in Stoops ends up in South Bend. I'm still waiting to hear Bill Cowher's name in the mix. Maybe he's waiting for an NFL job to open up, I dunno, but ND is as close to NFL salary as you are going to find in the college world.

Except that everyone can see that he said "Word is", meaning he heard this. He goes on to say it is from very reliable sources and that he believes it. His trust in his sources may be misplaced but... Reporting that it will happen means RF would say something like "Book it- Stoops is in at ND, guaranteed". Anyone who knows your hx with RF saw this one coming from a mile away-you can deny but you know....

Also, Stoops admission that he is staying has been an indicator in the past (regarding many a coach) that he is gone. It happens all the time.

If I was wrong, I apologize. Perhaps I was hasty and the fact that it worked out exactly as I thought it would the minute I saw it, is probably pure, 100% coincidence that you could never have foreseen because your motives were were also pure, like the driven snow.

But you are correct, oh, uh ALSO correct that Stoops denial means little based on denials of coaches past so why then question RF's sources based on that? But you diiiiid!
