Toledo Going the Cast-offs Non-Qualifiers Route

Looks an awful lot like the route Toledo Tom took. Time will tell if Beckman will fare any better at it!

BG did offer a couple of the guys, but they have not qualified to sign a NLI yet but enrolled at UT. Not sure if this means they can play or not.

P.S.: I love the quote to Brian Nowdicki (alias Rocketfootball) from Paige: "Yeah, I have signed it." Sounds a lot like, "Who the heck are you...I signed it...now leave me alone!" :-D

Just wondering, when a writer calls a kid on the day to sign NLI's and asks him if he signed his NLI to Toledo yet, what do you expect the kid to say? Most will actually just say "yes." In this case, it appears he said, "yeah, I have signed it."

And who cares if any of the recruits know who Brian Nowicki is or even cares who Brian Nowicki is.

By the way, I see you spelled it Nowdicki again. I remember you saying it wasn't intentional....that's funny. And once again, I have to wonder why Nowdicki instead of Nodicki. Nodicki just has so much more meaning to it.

Are boosters allowed to contact recruits?

Is this last year all over again? The NCAA recognizes Scout as a legitimate media outlet (owned by Fox Media Interactive) and anyone working for them is treated as such and allowed to do that work in a non-bias way.

I would think you and factman would know the answer to that very well from last year. And will you two please stop breathing heavy together. ;-)

About time one of you BG fans got it right. That Nowdicki stuff just doesn't make sense.

Yeah, technically it's legal, but If I were in charge at Toledo I would not accept a dime from someone who works for one of these sites.

It only takes a scintilla of something below board to get the NCAA's panties in a bunch, so why take the chance?

If the NCAA doesn't have a problem with a pom pom waiving Toledo booster contacting recruits under the guise of a journalist, then I guess we shouldn't either.

It looks like their recruit James Green has been kicked out of a few places. It seems as though he's been to USF, Minnesota, and Tennessee as a commit all in the last couple of years and somehow didn't qualify at any of them. So now he's at Toledo.

Sounds a whole lot like Keston Cheatham a few years ago for us. Heck of a talent but couldn't stay at one team due to academic/conduct trouble. I'd sure like to know James Green's story but from what I can tell he's pretty similar to Cheatham, and Cheatham never really had an impact on BG before his time on the team ended.

Just to clarify, James Green originally committed to South Florida for the 2009 recruiting class. He then got an offer from Tennessee and visited them and switched his commitment to Tennessee on the visit. He did not qualify. He got qualified this fall and committed to Minnesota with the understanding he would go on scholarship in January. Minnesota expected three kids to graduate in December, but only two did. They signed two guys plus Green (who does not sign a NLI because he didn't go anywhere in the fall), and could only take two in January because of the one guy not graduating as expected. So they had to take the two that signed NLI's over Green. They offered Green a scholarship to start in June for summer classes instead of January, but he wanted to go somewhere that he could play spring ball to get ready for the upcoming season. He chose Toledo over Rutgers, mainly because he knew Beckman from the year before when he was still at Oklahoma State as he had an offer from them for the 2009 class.

So though it is a very unique situation, he was only not qualified last year. He was qualified for Minnesota despite what their fans have said. And he was not a disciplinary problem anywhere or anything like that.

Just thought that I would let y'all know that Toledo got two more 3 star commitments over the weekend. Slot receiver Cassius McDowell of Deerfield Beach, FL and athlete Dwight Macon. Macon was committed to Central Michigan before switching to Toledo.

Just for RWT, that is now one 4 star, eleven 3 stars, and Illinois transfer Cordale Scott (former 4 star). Okay, back to your spinning......
