This potential new logo is hideous and NO ONE in Sparty land likes it. They supposedly worked with NIKE ('nuff said) FOR TWO YEARS to arrive at this...thing (the new ones on the right ):

I actually thought this was an internet joke until I saw an article to confirm this is real. MSU actually presented this publicly?

Anybody notice that it looks almost identical to the other one? Hideous? Don't see that, but if they worked for two years and came up with the same logo that seems counterproductive. I'd take their money and give them the same logo back after two years-pretty nice scam.

What they gave them was a Trojan from Japan with a full head of hair.

It looks more like they had being able to embroider and otherwise use the logo on merchandise in mind.

Goes without saying, most logo changes have no actual purpose, other than some pee-brained marketing brat saying what a "hawt" idea it is.

BTW, when does the BGSU 100 retro gear come out?

I think they should have gone the route of a condom as their mascot.....after all they got raped by CMU.....

I was in SBX Thanksgiving weekend and they had quite a few things with retro BG logos on them as part of a "heritage" collection or something like that. Lot of really cool looking stuff, it was hard not to buy some of it, but as I had just purchased a new truck a few days earlier, it wasn't in the budget that day.

MSU is where BG was a few years ago...not much uniformity in terms of uniform colors, fonts and logos. You couple that with a propensity to change for the sake of change...one year the football helmet is a block S, one year it has a Spartan head...the basketball team changes unifrom designes semi -annually...etc..etc...

The new logo is a part of a process to develop a look that can become a "tradition"...they aren't just changing the logo, they're revamping the entire presentation of he athletic department. I think this was "leaked" to see how people would react to it. It wouldn't suprise me to see it tweaked a bit before the official launch

Maybe it was just hard for their fans to color inside all of those extra lines.
