An article in a Utah paper indicates that BYU is close to leaving the MWC for the WAC, and may not be alone. It indicates Boise has a no-fault clause to return to the WAC should it wish too. Plus FSU and another WAC school turned down the MWC recently. It discussed Boise bailing MWC before even getting there if BYU goes, and that the WAC may poach as many as three MWC schools in the process.
I don't have a link, as I was on my Droid at lunch.
Interesting.
MWC in trouble? Revenge of the WAC?

Re: MWC in trouble? Revenge of the WAC?
What I've been reading is that BYU is seriously considering football independence and WAC for everything else. At the same time, Fresno and Nevada have been invited to the MWC. If both of those happen, the WAC will be in good shape for basketball and most other sports, but in football they would be in big trouble. I don't think many if any C-USA schools would be interested in jumping to the WAC as that would be a lateral move. WAC would have to promote from 1-AA, like Montana.

I read some of that late today. I'd read that BYU wanted to have a scheduling deal with the WAC, which might aid things with them.
Donno. Still makes things sound unstable.
