Down years happen, Texas is having one as well, Alabama had plenty before Saban got there, Oklahoma had one last season, Florida had them when the Ol' Ball Coach left
It happens with the well known big time programs, hell it happens to all programs, they all go through their ups and downs. It is kinda new seeing two schools like Oregon and Auburn in the top spots this year instead of the usual suspects

Speaking of top schools ... Oregon had way too many problems with Cal and was lucky to win, and SDSU scored 35 on TCU's top defense. Any chance Boise may get some more #1 and #2 votes? I sure hope so.
My predictions / hopes - 'Bama will beat shut down Newton like they shut down Tebow last year and will beat Auburn. Auburn will still win the SEC. Oregon will flatten Arizona and Oregon State, and TCU will dip quite a bit in the polls as barely beating SDSU looks bad and the blowout over Utah looks less impressive now after ND wiped out Utah. Thus, the national title will go to Boise State after beating Oregon in an instant classic.
