On the CMU Scout board a number of fans are very critical of their new arena (capacity 5,300) and are comparing it to a local D3 arena (Hope College) and saying it looks like a high school gym. Interesting since they put more than $20 million into the renovation.

Seems awfully dark. Must be the CMU Maroon.

I don't see whats wrong with it, besides what transfer said about it being dark, the back wall is kinda blah as well, could use some color

The biggest problem with that arena is the lack of players as good as Danny Roundfield, James McElroy, Ben Poquette and Jeff Tropf

The neon yellow is pretty effing hideous too!

Actually, I can't for the life of me figure out how anybody can tell anything from this picture in obvious bad light with colors that are clearly not true. Looks like Stroh and any number of other smaller collegiate arenas IMO, but then I have no more to base it on than anyone else who hasn't seen it.

I bet it looks pretty good in person. The lighting in this shot is really bad, really inconsistent.

Yeah...that neon yellow has a hideous Oregon feel to it, but overall, I think the layout of the seats look pretty neat.

You should have seen the place BEFORE the renovations. Actually the arena is only part of the project. A new main entrance and concessions area was constructed to give the arena an actual entrance. The arena is in their student rec center and you had to go through that entrance. This project gives the University a dedicated entrance and a showplace for athletics. That said, it's still CMU so blaaaaaaa!!
