On the Schedule Poster for the 2012 football season, Ohio State lists "That School Up North" as their last game of the season, a nod to Woody Hayes. Thought that was kind of funny.

Yet he was willing to coach at the school up north if they would have hired him. He's a hired gun. Nothing more.

I respect Meyer for everything he did for us. No question. However, after hearing about some serious recruiting shenanigans at UF, I've lost a lot of respect for him as a coach. And frankly, I'm not sure he'll do that well. As soon as he lost both Charlie Strong and Dan Mullen, his teams haven't been as effective. 2009 had absolutely no excuses to go anything short of 13-0, and while they were close, the offense was never truly effective even with Tebow at QB, and the defense which returned 11 starters often struggled. 2010 was just miserable, which led to his "health problems." Urban Meyer has put together some incredible coaching staffs and is a wonderful motivator, but I do believe the true geniuses behind his offensive successes have been Gregg Brandon and Dan Mullen.

I would be very surprised if he is as successful as Tressel was. I don't think most OSU fans know how good they have had it since 2000. Winning or sharing a Big Ten title just about every year was pretty impressive and will be difficult to replicate.

He'll shock and awe, and be young enough to retire a couple more years, then take-over at Notre Dame. Then maybe Michigan.......

I can see why people think this way. His track record when first arrving at BG, Utah and UF is second to none. However I am skeptical as his last year at UF was awful for the talent they had and they haven't come out of that funk despite having nothing but top tier recruiting classes. Right now he is stealing some players from PSU and a few others but that will wear off in time in my opionion. And is he recruiting players that will stay out of jail? Not to mention the giant microscope from the NCAA now hanging over.

As an osu hater who lives in cbus I would love to see them get their hopes up and hten get nailed for recruiting violations that would cause the ncaa to come down on them with furious anger..

I wouldn't mind seeing that, either. :P

So if you hate Zero State, then you must be a big Tressel fan, right? (Just wondering as I noticed your avatar.)

I wouldn't bet against The Urban Legend. I expect Zero State to be playing for a national title sooner rather than later.

I don't love Tressell, I do think he takes this program to a place that no one else we could reasonably get takes us. That avatar needs changed but it is to mock them. They act like the man is dead.

Quit fantasizing about Tressel. Nobody wants anything to do with that man, his cheats, his lies, and his corruption anywhere near our beloved Alma Mater.

Most people I talk to on the topic off this board are less traditional and dare I say self righteous. They understand while what he did was bad it is pretty much par for the course at elite level football programs and he might be the only person to take us to the level of elite level football program in the world. It was a perfect storm for us to have elite football played at BG and I think we squandered it.
