Standing up to the NCAA

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Interesting article on Tim Cohane's lawsuit against the NCAA:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/24/opini ... ref=sports
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Got to admit, I don't even recall this guy coaching at UB...but then again, I'm "old" right? :-k

Seriously, if WE violated NCAA rules by giving one kid some brats... how crazy can this be? Of course, they gave OSU the "Slap on the wrist" IMO.... NC got nailed much harder, and probably deservedly so.

BTW, I don't agree that we should just start up what would amount to "semi-pro/pro" sports. Even in baseball, more college players are drafted every year than was the case years ago.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
