Woody Hayes was a disturbed person

I really don't want to copy the contents of this article because a) it is disturbing and b) if you don't want to read said content, don't click the link.

Urban Meyer tells a very screwed up story about Woody Hayes and a turtle. This makes me so glad I'm not an Ohio State fan. In fact, if I were an Ohio State fan, I'd probably be ashamed of and embarrassed to support the team of the former legendary coach. http://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal ... yes-turtle

That story has been told by so many different coaches about so many different coaches.

The first time I heard it, the coach was Bo Schembechler and they were bashing the Michigan coaches.

FWIW it is on Yahoo news now. Either Meyer is telling the truth about Hayes, bending the truth in an exaggeration, or he is making up some seriously crazy s**t. None of which are appealing.

I don't think anyone here has known Urban Meyer to do ANYTHING like that before in his career.....

Ok, seriously, ever been bit by a snapping turtle? I don't care how "tough" someone thinks they are, nobody is going to walk away from that. It's a made up story.

Unless you're referring to the assistant coach's response, then there have been some real head scratchers that have moved up the ladder rather quickly :butthead:

Who cares? If it involves the Ohio scandal university, I don't give a sh*t.

Well, Urban Meyer was lying apparently. Athletic department had to put out a statement given how quickly the story spread.

Ohio State coach ... make something up? I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here.

Whether the turtle story is true or false, this doesn't change the accuracy of the title of this thread:

We should all be so disturbed for a lifetime like Woody Hayes was -- the world would be a much better place for it.

The man did so much good work for hundreds of individuals and the community at-large that never got a peep of publicity, and was the father of the phrase "pay it forward" when it comes to giving back.

The story was just that: a coaching STORY. Sheesh, you people really need to lighten up a bit or shake the sand out of your butt crack. You seem a bit too irritable these days.

As for the incident against Clemson: It's pretty well known now that Hayes (who was diabetic) had not been taking his medication and was in an agitated state because of his high blood sugar levels.

It's not an excuse for what he did; but does explain why it happened when it did. He paid the price for his act and it was an appropriate response by the university.

As a BG alum who lives in Columbus and also follows OSU, I honestly don't get the vitriol regarding Ohio State. It comes across as bitterness and petty jealousy. The two programs aren't on the same level and never will be so long as something like the BCS exists, so why let it bother you? With Meyer now heading up OSU, I'm enjoying watching him transform that offense as he has done everywhere he's gone.

As for me, I get sick of the Zero State fans with their arrogance and feeling of entitlement that they try to cram down my throat every where I go.

This. Especially since 90% of the ones who have that arrogance and sense of entitlement have no connection to the school whatsoever.
