YOUNGSTOWN — A Youngstown State University spokesman says school trustees have voted to offer the president’s job to former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel.
Tressel is one of three finalists for the job at the northeastern Ohio school where he once coached the football team.
Youngstown State spokesman Ron Cole said Friday that a contract is being negotiated. Tressel was chosen over the president of Southern Oregon University and the chancellor of the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Tressel recently was a finalist but was not chosen to be president at the University of Akron, where he has been an administrator for two years. He took the job after being forced out at Ohio State following a scandal in which players sold memorabilia for cash and tattoos.

From a PR and fundraising standpoint it's a home run. From a day-to-day management and faculty relations standpoint it could get interesting.
