Purdue is so friggin overrated

Post by Falcon30 »

I can't STAND how people think Purdue is good because their schedule is easy.

Think about it - what Purdue prediction has been about how they are as good as Iowa, Michigan or Ohio State???? Nooo. It is about how they don't play OSU or Michigan so they might win the Big ten!

Screw that. Last year, OSU didn't have to play Iowa or Ohio State. Does that make them #13 in the country? These pricks do not rank teams based on who is better.

I would hope Ohio St. didn't have to play themselves. That's a whole lot of criminals on one field.

I wouldn't worry too much about Purdue winning the Big 11. Even if they do, remember what happened to Iowa in 2002-3? Win a co-championship and got their butts handed to them by Carson Palmer and So-Cal.

I have had similar thoughts. They might be ranked high for the wrong reasons but I do not think they are overrated. I think they should be ranked high for what they return. Almost 20 starters return from a team that went 7-5. 7-5 is nothing great, but they lost those five games by a combined total of 14 points. Perhaps they are just bad in close games because in 2003 they were 9-4 with those four losses totally only 13 points, one in overtime. The ball is going bounce their way one of these seasons.

if conference schedules are determining the rankings, I think we should be ranked in the top 5 =)

Purdue is getting love for the same reason that West Virginia was hyped last year--supposedly easy schedule. There is no way they win the Big 10, and could plausibly lose to Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota. In fact, I would be very surprised if they win two of those three.

I'm with kdog on this...I think Purdue is better than what some think. They have a ton of starters coming back and Tiller is starting to feel the heat in West Lafeyette. He needs to win the conference now.
Winning the B 10 is difficult....The Boilers have just as good a chance as anyone.

The Purdue players are tired of hearing how they don't have to play Mich or OSU...that works both ways. I think OSU and Mich get a break not playing Purdue.

We'll find out soon enough!!!! 264 hours to go....

Good point, I never thought of it that way. Plus it is not like Purdue can control not playing them.

Yeah I was dead wrong thinking Purdue would be good. Really they should be. When you return your entire defense from the previous season there should be high expectations.

If Purdue would have played Michigan and Ohio State, I would give them credit for having a good schedule. But you can't help it how they scheduled. Sometimes it just comes out that way.

Me too. I was wrong about the Boilers. Man, talk about a team that is struggling. Have they won a Big 10 game yet?
