Why do I hate OSU so much?

I have lived in Columbus for over a year now and the one constant thing has been my extreme hatred for OSU. It is so annoying down here. I equate an OSU fan to a Yankee fan. But I still don't really understand why I hate them so much?????Any ideas?

Probably because you feel you are being force-fed cow manure! When I moved to Pennsylvania, I got Penn State rammed down my throat. Up to that point, I was actually pretty ambivalent about them.
As for Yankee fans, ugh, don't get me started. I'm surrounded by them out here.

This would be a great thread to start in the "Other Schools" forum.
I also dislike the Buckeyes.

MODERATORS MOUNT UP!!! Wait, wait that was REGULATORS. But still I agree with DD's and Germaine's sentiments about OSU.
OSU Fans

It is because their fans are idiots. A perfect example:
A guy I work with in Toledo is a huge tOSU fan. He was talking about them and someone said something about Michigan's defense. He said "Michigan's defense sucks, they couldn't stop a friggin' MAC school!"
I turned to him and said that NIU is very good and their running back, Wolfe, would hurt any Big Ten school. He laughed and then when he realized I was serious he said "really? Well, he wouldn't be able to run against Ohio State though."

My girlfriend that I just started dating is From Columbus for life. Her dad went to OSU and has not missed a game in 30+ years. Great guy but we differ greatly there. Her mom drives a car that has a novelty plate that says go bucks or whatever. I try to never start a convo about football or politics with them because we vastly differ on both)I literally asked one of ehr friends this weekend if he would rather have Omar Jacobs or there curent QB situation. He said he would have to look into it more...??????? Atleast he didn't say Zwick all the way. I was at a bar during last season and said BG would beat OSU this year. People went Irrate and thougth it was laughable. That was when OSU was 3-3 or somewhere around. Right after they beat Marshall on an illegal play where the clock should have run out. (An offensive penalty does not stop the clock. You are I beleive suppossed to run off ten seconds.)
It was blasphemy to these people.
If Jim Tressel ran for Mayor of Columbus on a Pro Al Qaeda platform he would win.
I swear these people think when there athletes die that they will ascend direclty into heaven instead of being buried like the rest of us.
Maybe I don't hate OSU. I love Teddy Ginn. Maybe I hate OSU fan

Born and raised a Michigan fan. Proudly converted to BG all the way. That pretty much sums up why I hate OSU.
In general, I have never met a more arrogant and disrespectful fan base than that of OSU. I realize there are exceptions and I realize every fan base has some pricks. But in my experience, OSU fans are the worst I've dealt with. They have this air of entitlement that just makes we want to puke and then kick them in the nuts.
How long until journey and tekenini show up and tsk-tsk us for speaking badly of THE best university ever to grace us with football?

Hey guys, look on the bright side...OSU is good for keeping the idiots from attending BG!

I hate OSU because even some BGSU alums are more excited to root for OSU then their own alma mater. And would root for OSU in games played between two said schools. That sickens me.

Boy does that burn me. I can understand folks from a school without a football tradition turning to "the" state school or some other school, but not BG alums...

That made me laugh out loud, though it wouldn't be a stretch to say he could run for governor of Ohio on the same platform and win.

Is it just me, or does the whole "reverend Tressel" persona just scream corruption? The whole outfit just comes off to me as a Jonas Nightingale type of operation.

He says all the right things and acts all goody goody and people fall for the act.
Same bad stuff that went on during the Cooper era is going on now. Possibly worse. Since they win and have the Columbus Dispatch by the balls it's swept under the rug.

It cracks me up when people say that Tressell is such a good guy and has a long and positive tradition. His tradition is that he was sanctioned at a Diviciiion 2 school too. His tradition is that he cheats.

Perfect response, '87.
Go to ANY high school game in Ohio tonight and you'll see lots of OSU hats and shirts....many with "2002 National Champs". Clue fellas, that was THREE years ago.
When we went to the Dover/Massillon game at Paul Brown Stadium, I thought we were in "Little Columbus".

It was sickening. I was waiting for some Massillon schmuck to rip on my BG wear so I could turn around and say "Hey, do remember a cat by the name of Erik White??? " I thought so.
Add the fact that the freakin media in this state covers anything and everything about OSU and all but ignores the MAC schools....

Everywhere you turn it gets shoved in your face. Tricky, Tressel has the Akron Beacon Journal by the balls as well. Every day there are at least 3 OSU stories in the sports section....but very little about Akron or Kent State.
GF1 is correct also....Tressel had trouble at YSU with car dealers and players. He isn't as goody goody as people think. A national title will cover an awful lot of things.
I can't say that I hate OSU but I don't like them and I won't root for them...even if they were playing UT. I don't like Michigan either.
