Reminded me of a less successful call in his last game for us...
Remember that "Few Good Men" take off someone did?
"Did you order the fake punt vs. Toledo!"
"You're God**** right I did."

As an Iowa fan and obviously a BG man the thought of a fake crossed through my mind as they lined up. . .what a ballsy move.
Wow the CUSA refs really stuck the game up the pooper of the hawks though- I can think of 3 instances where I would have gone nuts if it was a.) a BG game or b.) I was in attendance.
1. Running into the kicker call on a punty- if anything the kicker landed on the rusher
2. Helmet to helmet contact on Leak- what a joke- that drive, kept alive by the running into call resulted in points
3. Greenway was obviously NOT offside during the onside kick call. Iowa would have had the ball and a short field with 1:00 and some change on the clock, if you saw their bowl game last year you know that was plenty of time.
There were other bad calls including the first time I have ever seen the defense penalized for shouting out at the line of scrimmage. I though Spielman did a good job of pointing out when the teams got hosed. Spielman has shown improvement behind the mic actually.

After watching most of the bowl games, it seems like the refs of all the non-BCS conferences (not just the MAC) leave something to be desired.
The Sun Belt refs for the Alamo Bowl take the cake. I thought the announcers were going to jump out of the booth and go after them personally.

Yeah, I've observed the same thing (re non BCS officials). I would not be surprised to see the bowl game officials coming only from major conferences.

Sun belt officials should never be allowed to call a bowl game again. Ever.
I didn't see the Iowa game but it sounds like Convict-USA officials were bad also....and we all know how bad MAC officiating can be. Maybe that was all that was available over the holidays.

I actually thought the MAC officials did a pretty good job. They were used to seeing the spread offenses and lots of passing so it wasn't a big thing to them. I told the husband I thought they were not really noticed in the game- which is what you want.
