Charcoal Chimney

Anyone using these? Incredible little device. Fill it with charcoal and light some paper underneath and it creates a nice batch of perfectly grey coals to dump in your grill. Unless you're eme and don't follow directions. I

I let it go too long and it was a roaring inferno so I reached down to grab it (since I ignored the imperative that I ONLY set it on a charcoal grill grate and had placed it down inside a wood burning fire pit. No way to grab it without burning myself so I did that. Then when I picked it up flames shot out both ends in Flipperesque powertool screw up fashion and I dropped the whole thing on the patio-remarkably it landed bottom down, dousing the one end's flame and when I picked it up and tipped the coals back into the pit they spread out perfectly and led to rather wonderful burgers and salmon with Asian 5 SPice.

Anyway, if you don't have one, get one-great tool-great entertainment.

They're an absolute necessity if you're into charcoal grilling. I love mine; you can have ready to cook coals in about 15 minutes. Personally, I just set mine on my deep fryer burner for a minute or two to start the bottom coals. Works like a champ.

Are we talking, "Dad's got another party trick, or weapon of mass construction"?

Speaking of, and rather off topic, there's a billboard on my way to work for some area hospital with a circular saw and in big letters, "Of course I've used one of these before..."

I debated the wisdom of including that phrase. I think it might be more apropos in Grant's thread on chilis. "Eat two habaneros, wait half an hour, light a match..."

Here is a pair in orange :-D Orange rocks

I have one [chimineeeee] and it works ever so well with lump charcoal.

Really nice looking pair directly below the orange ones on the left.

I understand. It's always good to get in touch with your feminine side.

:-D

Seriously, welding gloves are freaking awesome in the kitchen - regardless of color.
