Well, my love for Nosferatu finally got me to try and recreate it myself. Just got it put into the fermenter. Original Gravity measured at 1.081. This bad boy is going to take some aging, probably won't be drinkable till Christmas or after, but here's what I did.
12# Maris Otter Pale
6# Munich Malt
2.5# 90L Crystal
1# Victory Malt
2# Cara-Red Malt
Mashed at 154*
Hop schedule:
1 oz Simcoe (12% AA) @ 60 mins
1 oz Cascade (6.9% AA) @ 40 mins
1 oz Simcoe (12% AA) @ 30 mins
1 oz Cascade (6.9% AA) @ 20 mins
.5 oz Cascade (6.9% AA) @ 3 mins
.5 oz Simcoe (12% AA) @ 3 mins
I made a starter of WYeast 1028 (London Ale) on Thursday, so I pitched a pretty good amount of yeast for a beer this big.
This was the first time I ever used the Cara-Red malt, but it definitely came as advertised. This wort was a deep shade of red when it went into the fermenter.
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

Yeah, I've tapped the keg, and I screwed something up royally. The first couple glasses were terrible.
I haven't yet decided what I want to do with it. I don't want to dump it, I'm trying to come up with a way to salvage it. With the holiday though I've been so busy I haven't had time to do anything yet.

You could donate it to a homeless shelter....hammb wrote:Yeah, I've tapped the keg, and I screwed something up royally. The first couple glasses were terrible.
