New blog/website falconbrau.com

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Well, I finally fired up Falconbrau.com. It's not customized or anything yet, but thanks to haveyoumettony.com I got a theme that I really like and have been posting and updating the status of our current brew.

What I'd like to do is recruit some others to be authors. I'm thinking of posts/articles on anything food/drink related from Falcon fans!

If you'd be interested in writing about food, reviewing a beer/wine/scotch/restaurant, documenting your homebrew, or that type of thing... shoot me a PM or email me at [email protected]

Pepperguy.com is on Wordpress 2.6.2... just a straight off the FTP site install, the theme I use there is called Aquafluid (http://wpthemepark.com/themes/aquafluid) with some customizations I've done and plugins from various places.

Falconbrau is on 2.6.1 and the theme used there is Atahualpa (http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/atahualpa)

And, like I said, they're both just straight from the download site Wordpress installations. The MU version is what, Multi-User?

You can brew your own beer at home!? Is that even legal!?!?

Seriously I wouldn't mind my own blog, depending on how often I would be required to update it...I tried that a few years back with the article section on here, and I didn't do a very good job keeping up with it.

The legalization of home brewing in 1978 by Jimmy Carter was probably his most significant accomplishment.

I'd love to contribute. I'm going to be brewing on Saturday. I'll be sure to take some pictures.
BTW. when you get blow off like that through the airlock, do you remove the airlock and clean it out, or leave it? (I've had it happen once, and I cleaned the airlock out)

I went one step further... I racked to my carboy as quickly as I could. From what I've read, that trub (the particulate stuff that forms during fermentation) can really add a lot of "off flavors" to the brew, so it's best to not let the beer be in contact with it more than necessary.

As for the airlock itself, I didn't clean it out, but I did add a little more water to it, just in case the blow-by took all the liquid along with it. Didn't want nasty stuff getting back in via an open airlock.
