BG signee Jasmine Mathews and her Marian Catholic Spartans are off and running at 8-1. Suffered a tough loss against Naperville Central, but have wins over Chicagoland toughies Lincoln Way East, Mother McCauley, Providence and Marist all ready this season. Jasmine had 26 points and four steals versus Marist and 16 in the one loss. She guards the other team's best perimeter/wing player in every game.
Hopefully, they can keep improving through their difficult schedule and make some noise. Jasmine teams with Loyola IL signee Simone Law at Marian. Jasmine missed two games with a bone contusion, but is right back into it full force.

FF1, the last time I recall you giving this type of a summary about one of our players was a young lady currently playing PG for the Falcons.... hopefully Ms. Matthews will be another Tracy!

61, Jasmine is a different type of player in that she is not a pure point but rather an athletic combo type player. She is a defender by nature. She certainly shares something besides a home state with TP as both their HS programs are top notch. Jasmine plays against top competition even in the regular season- as did Tracy. Jasmine is a Chicagoland player while Tracy is a a central Illinois/downstate product. As with any HS player player, there will be plenty of transition for her. But I think Jasmine is a great addition.
