Punter

I had posted in another thread about an all Ohio punter that was interested in BG. Just found out the reason we didn't pick him up is we're getting a transfer from Findlay that sounds pretty solid. Averages around 42 yards.

PK duties are already Tate's to lose. It will take a big turn around for one of the others to be considered. Alot can change in 6 months, but that's the situation as of right now. Most of those guys were better in high school. I have to wonder if it's the adjustment to kicking off the ground for most of them, or if it's something else. It's been disappointing from a fan standpoint that someone hasn't been able to step up so far, and I'm sure it's been much more so for them.

Here's what the Blade had on him...

WHO’S COMING? Clawson confirmed that one player has been added to the program, and that player is a local athlete who will fill a need. Brian Schmeidebusch, a punter who last played at the University of Findlay in 2009, has joined the Falcons and will be eligible this fall. Schmeidebusch, an Ottawa-Glandorf graduate, punted for the Oilers in 2009 and averaged 42.1 yards per punt on 38 kicks, with 11 punts inside the 20-yard line and seven punts of 50 yards or more. Schmeidebusch was named All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team, Division II All-Region 3 first team, and second team All-American.

For kicking, I would agree. Punting is a whole different story.
