From the looks of the "crowds", I'm guessing this is a similar level of competition that the Cleve. Senate League has.

He DOES look like he's got great leaping abilibity and good hands on some tough to make catches.
"God's Country"? Is that why MEECHIGAN and Meechigan St. come to OHIO for a great many of their recruits?

Seriously, we've had some good kids come out of this area in the past...hope this is another one. :-k

Some notes after watching them, I am certainly no experienced football wizard so I would love to hear others input.

Clay: What I like about him is that he is 15 yards down field trying to hit people and he seems to be pretty athletic for a big guy. Not sure he has the lateral quickness that he would need as a tackle but he could be great pulling. Projection Guard.

Redding: Highpoints the ball and catches in traffic, has some wiggle but looks a little high and stiff in his moves, doesn’t look burner fast, but doesn’t lack speed,. Great Ball skills and return skills on D, seems to play taller then 6-2. Projection Safety

Hannon: Comes down hill hard, looks like a solid read and react guy, Seems to get thru traffic well. At RB seems like a bruiser who isn’t all that shifty. I am going to guess he plays LB. Projection Sam

Rodgers: Wow, Shifty, big, strong, good hands, fights for more yards, Looks like a Stud. Projection stud WR

Valdez: Looks really athletic with maybe an awkward release?, really like his running ability, would have fit in Urbans offense, looks like nice touch, feels pressure well, I bet he can play another position if he does not win the QB job. Projection Safety

Locke: Doesn’t look like a very good athlete, more of a try hard, smart, gutty guy. Probably play LB or FB. I liked him most at LB in the video where he was aggressive and energetic. Not sure how great he will be if we ask him to cover anyone. Projection FB

Larson: Cool that they spread him out, Most of the video is him as a DE, and while he doesn’t look like an exceptional athlete he is active and looks strong. Projection TE

Hunter: I don’t think he looks very good in the camp video but he won that camps ol mvp so he must have done something right. Has a flabby body already but moved pretty well. Projection RT-RG

We prefer to think of it as Ohio kids escaping.....

Going to the BIG showdown between Bishop Luers and R. Nelson Snider on Friday night. I'll be looking out for Mike, but I'll be rooting for Snider. The winner of this showdown will likely end up on top at the end of the season.

There are 2 kids from same HS in Fla. who've also verballed to BG, making a total of 10....this shows up on Rivals and ESPN recruiting sites, but Scout only shows 8 (and does NOT include the kid from Sylvania for one). :-k

Well,...I give this report with the caveat that I am not a scout and only a football fan.
Snider won 10-7 so for the most part offense was not a big factor for either team.
Mike did not seem a factor for the first half of the game, but I don't think he was looked to much.
Luers definately seems to be missing Knapke.
Mike is definately a stud and was the go to reciever in the second half.
He reminded me a lot of Freddie.
I can't say that he was perfect and I won't nitpick the one error I saw, but overall it was pretty apparent that he was one of the best athletes on the field.
Looking forward to seeing him in Orange and Brown! or Orange and White... what ever.

I saw Mike Rogers (Bishop Leurs) play Toledo Whitmer tonight. Whitmer won 20-3 and almost completely shut down BL offense as well as Rogers. He did have one very nice out pattern catch and a short screen but that was about it. Even the running back/LB, #9, that is going to Notre Dame, was pretty well shut down on offense, as well as the RB/DB that UT and Purdue have offered. Rogers definitely passes the "eyeball" test, and is about 6'1" and 190#, and seems to be their go too guy , but he had trouble getting open deep and if he did, the QB couldn't get it to him. There was a Knapke playing tackle, and I wondered if that is James brother. Does anyone know?

Updated information. I think the Guard we signed looks really nice, but I know very little about the offensive line.

Just remember, we haven't "signed" any of these kids yet...have to work hard to hold them if any of the "biggies" come calling.

Three from Ohio. That's interesting. I remember mentioning that last year too I think.

I know that Dave Clawson has talked of recruiting the "State of Bowling Green", but I've questioned him and a few assts. a couple of times re: lack of Ohio recruiting...especially NE Ohio, which had a TON of kids named to the all-Ohio teams (Div. 1 and 2) today. Hard to believe we can't get some of them to head to NW Ohio...We seem to do well in the SW of the state, but THREE kids total seems a bit on the low side for an Ohio school's recruiting efforts. ](*,)

Of course, if FLA. is considered part of the "state of Ohio" then this all makes sense. We've done extraordinarily well there in past few years.

He talked early about the "State of Bowling green" but he talks differently now. He wanted to get quicker, and he has found some of those guys in Florida. Also, being all-state is not very closely tied to being a D1 prospect.

I think Clawson said something like "the heart of the program may come from near here, but the legs may come from somewhere else" last year.

Dr Phillips in Orlando is a powerhouse of a program. You bring a Chris Gallon up here from that school and do right by himand that can lead to ther kids giving you a look....like Harrell.
