NICE!!! Need to hit NE Ohio hard...too much talent here for us not to get more recruits.

......not to mention that we have changed who recruits the Cleveland area! Nick Monroe seems to "get his man (men)", no matter where he recruits!

Actually, I think we now have TWO guys doing NE Ohio...good in that it's too large an area to cover effectively with one guy...and we haven't done well here over past several years... Used to have a regular group of kids from Mentor, Walsh Jesuit, and even several from Iggy.... that "pipeline" has seemingly closed, despite the fact that there are many NE Ohio coaches with BG roots.

This is good to hear. Back when I was in school and the football team was under Don Nehlen, BG used to regularly pull top talent out of NE Ohio. While it's always good to be able to recruit in Florida, the lifeblood of a program like BG should always be Ohio talent...and NE Ohio is typically one of the best producing areas of D1 talent in the state for a long time.

Writer,
You're "right on" re: your observations re: NE Ohio recruiting base for BG....I've talked with Dave Clawson several times about this...he and I even laugh about it when we see each other now...he knows how I feel....

BTW, the Iggy kid is no longer a BG verbal from what I see on recruiting sites...so we're back to one kid from the area...of course we're showing none so far from SW Ohio, which has become an area of strength for our recruiting in recent years. Last I looked we had FOUR kids verballed, two from Mich., and two from Ohio...this just might be the earliest I've seen us have this many verbals. Of course, verbals at this time of year may not mean anything by the time Feb. rolls around.

This has been a weird one. It wasn't just the recruiting sites...his HS has a football blog and the guy wrote a long article including compliments for BG's family atmosphere. Then, the post disappeared and he was back to undecided. Anyway, players need to feel like they are making the best decision available in order to commit to a program.

It was June last year before we had 4 verbals.

I'm not, I'm just thinking having Sr. in the stands at the Doyt possibly fighting Toledo coaches wouldn't be the best thing. On second thought, though...
