And ANOTHER St. Ed's kid!

Post by Class of 61 »

Latest player to commit to BG is Jack Walz, 6'0, 185 S from St. Edward HS in Lakewood.... I'm stunned with how many kids have committed to us so far...and we're BACK in Ohio "Big time", especially NE Ohio where I've felt for quite awhile we'd disappeared.... Hope we hang onto these kids and hope they continue to do well. Seems like about 15+ a transfer from Pitt....and about 10 or so are from OHIO!

I really don't understand why you are so concerned about the geography of our student athletes, but I do like the research you do to save me the time of doing it.

Concern isn't the proper word IMO, but I DO feel like we'd lost our identity in our home state. Getting 5-7 kids a year from Fla. for example isn't bad, except for the fact that many of them have left the program. Not saying it couldn't happen with Ohio kids, but at least O. kids are still "close to home" if problems arise, while out of state kids from 1500 miles away or so might not have the same support system available to them.

I seriously DO think we'd lost our ID in the NE section of the state, which had been a strong part of the successful BG teams in the past. This is why I'm glad to see a new emphasis on recruiting the area. Oddly enough, we'd been VERY strong in recruiting SW Ohio, but this year seems this has turned around. Guess we'll see how this eventually turns out in a few yrs. :-k

Outstanding pick up. Developing a pipeline into the most talented programs in the state is fantastic.

Seeing the name Jack Walz I thought we'd have to go all the way out to California to get him.
