Recruiting Ratings

It'll obviously be interesting to see how the coaching changes will affect the 2014 recruit "verbals".. I've already mentioned that the WR from Shaker Hts. has decommitted and verballed to Cincy...but that was the rumor BEFORE the past week.
I also know that Adam has contacted (I assume) the rest of the verbals and indicated that they were staying put..hopefully, they see the BG future (and theirs) as being bright.
All this being said, I noticed that the 247 site, which had shown 16 or so verbals and had us ranked #2 in the MAC, now shows us with 14 verbals and #8 in the MAC.... seems like we've been this route before and we've done OK....but hopefully, we CAN keep the current kids with us and then add whoever gets recruited between now and Feb. by the new staff.

we only had 16 SR's...we may still have some grayshirts from last year and walk ons like Houston that have earned a schollie. This is a great year to make a change as we don't have very many slots to fill and we shouldn't be scrambling around to find bodies like Brandon was in 2003.

The key thing is to keep the young talent here -- and not have a bunch of good players decide to transfer. That's why getting a good coach hired fairly quickly is important, even more so than recruiting high school kids.

100% agree. Get the guys here to stay then start thinking about the recruits. The guys that claws on recruited might not fit the next guy. Plus if he is coming from the sec there might just have been a few guys he built relationships with that they didn't have space for. Or guys who they recruited who are not getting pt at an sec school but would here. I would love a bunch of transfers. Especially for a talented tean

Globe,
If you take a look at our roster, about 80% or so have already redshirted...so going to another school would in essence waste a full year as they sit out. Some true frosh "could" theoretically transfer, but I'm not sure we'll see that. The chemistry of this team seems awfully strong..hopefully will keep these kids together.

I don't want a bunch of transfers...this team has such great chemistry and continuity...why would you want to see a bunch of the current players leave so you can plug in a bunch of transfers?

Chief has been a nice fit as a transfer...

Chief wan't a transfer in the strictest sense...he's a JUCO player..and as big as he is, still one guy not "a lot of guys". But yeah...I can see you're point. Wait...no I can't

Who said they wanted that?

Boom!
You know who had a bunch of SEC transfers? Murray State.
You're not going to see a bunch of our guys transfer and we might lose a recruit here and there and we might pick some up too, like the guys we got last year who were headed to UC.
In fact, Coach Scheier tweeted that we had a new commit a day or so ago.

Sorry I meant into the team. I think there will be more then enough scholarships when the chips fall to get some nice SEC guys here.
