RB picks BG over Illinois

Post by Schadenfreude »

Matt Domer originally committed to Illinois. He'll be coming to Bowling Green now. It looks like quite a few schools had interest in him.

I just hope his academics are in order. We're not Toledo.

What I find most interesting is that he's in same size range as our current RB's. Is this a deliberate choice by our staff? Would think we'd like to get another RB who's bigger. Perhaps the G.Tech transfer fills that role.

Nice looking RB...speed, agility and he's not afraid to run between the tackles. What's not to like?

Will he have 3 years of eligibility remaining beginning this fall? I think the GTech xfer will have 3 years left. For 2015 we have Coppet as a true junior and both Givens and Greene as 5th year Seniors. English will be a redshirt Sophomore. So even if he is somewhat similar in size to our current backs, we'll need him for 2016.

The Blade reported today that he will have four years of eligibility remaining.

I'm certainly no expert, but it feels low.

Clawson had us consistently in the top 3 and the circumstances to recruit to have only improved, but I'll still have to wait for the dust to settle to render a complete judgment. Also, I'd be curious to find out if they account for people like Rhodes and Domer.

These rankings are based solely on the offers the players receive and not any real evaluation of their football abilities. There's something to be said for fitting a particular system, but healthy recruiting involves getting players other teams want. I'd much rather be stealing recruits from Illinois than Western Illinois. In almost every case our flock have selected BG over a comparable peer institution.

They did reference Domer in these rankings. I think they weight heavily the number of recruits a school has. BG with only 18 commits while everyone above them has 22 or more.
